Alright crew here's how this is gonna work:
- Mod responses will come after every player has tagged in OR after 24 hours have passed. If you do not tag in those 24 hours you will be skipped over.
- OOC communication will be done through the Discord in a thread in RP-Talk-1. You don't have to unmute, but please have your pings on so that if I need to @ everyone, I can. For now we will clusterfuck everyone into one thread; if we need to split into 3 for the groupings we will, just lmk.
- I am going to give you an initial "go play" toplevel somewhere in this as a heads up (this is my contingency for "Wolfie is out/busy or players are out/busy and we still want to play"). I do not recommend hitting the bell on this one, but this is so that all fourteen of you can interact at once. I want you to fuck around and go play in this one. I promise you this one does not need to be mod-guided (but ask me questions if you need to). I sort of put a lot into this setting and I'd feel bad not letting you all do the thing oops.
- PLEASE GOD IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS @ ME IN THE DISCORD chat might move fast and I might not see it. PING ME. I'm begging. I'm on my knees. A ping for Wolfie, please.
- Please hit the bell on your group threads :) and try to maintain some semblance of a tag order. For the initial "all fourteen of you are together" I will not ask for you to maintain tag order and I'm sorry for anyone's inboxes. I will try to get through this in a manner that does not make you want to explode. I was woefully underprepared for 90% of the game to actually want to do this sorry-

[As the five of you venture through the city and talk amongst yourselves, figuring things out within the strange plane that is the leylines, Lily will start to hear whispers in the back of her mind. It sounds distantly like Ydalir's voice, and she can automatically tell that Ydalir is... quite far away.]

Can anyone hear me? Ugh, I'm stuck over here... okay, Ydalir, think: how do you usually get yourself out of situations?

[It doesn't sound as though she's reaching out to Lily directly, of course. It seems more like idle thoughts. Hm!

Meanwhile, around you, the people of this plane don't hear anything. Neither do the rest of the party, that only applies to Lily, but still. A crowd surges and squeezes between the rest of you as they chase after another rain of artifacts from the sky, separating the five of you from the rest of the group by mere crowdsurge alone. Whoops! Someone accidentally whacks Ryan in the head with a heavy tome as they're trying to catch something and spin around too quickly, apologises and offers food to him, and thanks to his passive magic they just...

Start glowing and floating into the atmosphere.

Goodbye?

Anyway, you have some time to get your bearings. What would you like to do first? There's the obvious quest and then there's the part where Ryan just got beaned, so y'know, lots of options.]

( lily is always on the outskirts of things, having trouble with groups- it what makes ydalir's sudden presence all the more stark. she whips around, eyes wide before she realizes just how distant it all is...

and then the wave of very kind, buff wolf people happens and she's mostly just overwhelmed. please give your lily about three minutes to recover from large groups. )

Is... everyone okay?

[A whole bunch of things happen very fast, and Ryan barely gets to process any of it before he's THWACKED in the back of the head. If he was a real cat he would have yowled so loud, but as he is his ears just airplane out with irritation.]

Ow! What the-- [Oh there. There's a dog guy in his face, apologizing extremely sincerely.] No, no, it's-- dude, you're good, I swear. You don't need to...uh.

[And up he fucking goes...

Ryan stares at the loaf of fresh bread in his hands and then back up at the dog floating away and wonders if this is what having a concussion feels like. Or a stroke? But you don't get a stroke from getting hit by something, right...? But then Lily's saying something and it takes Ryan a sec to put thought to words.]

Yeah! Yeah, I'm...good...I guess?

[Min-Gi is so unsure how to react when the dog starts floating away. He had already put his arm around Ryan protectively, even over what had clearly been an accident. He would like to heal up his boyfriend's bruised head, but the fact his accidental attacker has begun floating away is concerning and distracts from his immediate instinct.

Should they help them? How do they do that? Could they pull them down? Would they be too heavy?

The questions race around in his head, meanwhile the poor dog person is drifting further and further away.]

What do we do?

[ He's really starting to get sick to shit of getting shoved around. Not to mention that whomever jostles into him ends up with gilded cracks spidering from the point of contact, a state of affairs that he becomes increasingly irate with the more it occurs. It is a lucky thing that it has only happened to the denizens of wherever-the-fuck, because his annoyance with their well-muscled shoulders jostling him to hell unintentionally counteracts the initial danger.

He can't pretend he doesn't have a similar slack-jawed reaction when one of them effectively starts to... float the hell away. ]

You have got to be fucking kidding me.

[ Cursed touch or no, it isn't as if he's about to let some poor innocent drift away into supposed? Death?

He had hops on his worst of days. Even without his breathing technique. It's instinctual, then, to sprint his prickly ass over to the nearest building and use it for leverage. What he isn't anticipating is how high he actually jumps.

It is only due to quick reflexes that he doesn't leap past the damn dog-person entirely, and the fact his trajectory wasn't strictly vertical. He nabs them by the back of the shirt, effectively scruffing them.

... and, hey, innate ability and all. He's at least able to land on two feet, even if it's heavy. He releases them almost immediately, levering his arms back. ]

Just, uh. Hold onto something for the next – however fucking long. And watch where you're walking next time.

[Hey, what the fuck? The jostling? Not cool? Mystery - also a dog-person, kind of blending in with the crowd of other dog-people, save for the fact he's. Not nearly so buff. (Puppy-person, then? Doesn't care for that...) Has, effectively, been kind of useless in the scramble, alternating between growling outright at people who step on foot or tail and whining when he can't see anyone he knows.

Until he sees a group of people he... doesn't know-know, but. Close enough. We pack-bonded with that one. We've spooked the other one. That one is Genya's.

And then there's a... dog floating away? Goodbye?

Not goodbye, apparently, as Sanemi leaps into action and Mystery...

Gives a polite little round of applause when he returns to the ground. Wow! Cool! Good job!]

[Hilarious. Yes, you catch the denizen of the plane easily and return them to the ground, and they sort of look at you (while still glowing) and laugh a little awkwardly.]

No, no, it's alright, I'm alright, thank you! That happens here. Have you never been authentically "you" before? That's how it goes. You're light as air and you fly off. But thank you for dragging me back here, and I'm still sorry for whacking you! Real sorry.

[They bow a few times, repeatedly, their digital ears perked.]

Actually, hey, my wife is making lunch. Do y'all want lunch? You especially, [nodding to Ryan,] since I totally beaned you. Still super sorry by the way.

[Lily, meanwhile, can still hear Ydalir's voice from somewhere.]

Hokay! One leg freed. Now... the other leg! Which is such a problem right now with the— [There's a sound that sounds like laughter.] The deerrrrrrr! Please be kind, oh no wait don't eat that—

Ah-

( immediately her head swivels back in that direction before she looks to the others. ... no, she shouldn't run off on her own. charcoal cookie, pastry cookie, salt cellar cookie and silent salt cookie would be disappointed in her if she did. )

I'm sorry, you're very kind to offer, but we're trying to do something right now... Thank you though.

( she then looks to the others. )

I can hear Ydalir.It sounds like she's okay, but she's far off. I'm not sure what's going on, but it's coming from... I think, this way?

( lily points her staff in the direction! she's! being good and helping!! )

...Wait. That happens ANY time you're yourself? How does that work? Like. Dude, how do you get down?! Do you have to just say something super inauthentic? Wait, how would that even work...? Do you have to like, go gradually with something only kind of not like you first so you don't plummet to the ground? Or--

[It's at this point that Ryan realizes that he's the one glowing now, and his feet are a few inches off the ground. The only thing keeping him from fully floating off is Min's arm around him. As soon as Ryan realizes this, he drops hard onto the soles of his feet and his red tint goes a few shades darker and dimmer. Beneath him his shadow spreads out and looks almost murky.]

...Right! Uh, sorry. We should really be going. But dude, you're fine. It's all copacetic, I swear. So uh. Tell your wife we said hi aaaaand maybe we'll see you later!

[With that he turns his attention back to the group. As they talk, his shade gradually comes back up to baseline, like a thermometer heating up.]

So, how far off?

[As Ryan starts rising, Min's grip on him tightens, terrified of having him float away without him. Given the explanation they get it probably shouldn't be such a relief to feel him hit the ground again so solidly, but it's better than losing him.

His grip shifts to Ryan's shoulders as he turns to Lily, as though attempting to keep him pressed safely to the ground.]

You can hear Ydalir? Are you sure it's her?

[It's far from the strangest thing that's happening even in this moment, but it's in Min's nature to question. Sorry, Lily.]

[ ... get him out of this place, immediately. He waves off the explanation with a dismissive and impatient flap of his hand, turning around to face White Lily instead.

Finally. Something actionable. He was going to lose his mind if they sat here milling about for an eternity while the overly helpful inhabitants ran the hell into them.

He does consider, for a split second, that they ought to check Ryan for a concussion. Then he summarily banishes the thought. Time for that later. ]

Sounds like a lead to me. Besides – anything has to be better than fucking standing here and getting jostled for five minutes straight.

[You know what? Sure. That explanation makes about as much sense as anything else going on right now. Authentic self makes you float, apparently, and it's no big deal.

What is a big deal, though, is how Lily can, apparently, hear Ydalir. Mystery's ears perk up as if he could also hear her if he tried hard enough, but... nothing. And one of those ears promptly just. Droops. Sad pubby, not a help (yet).]

Is she... ok?

Lily will hear Ydalir's voice coming from somewhere toward the west. A loooooooooooong way to the west.]

PLEASE MR. DEER BE GENTLE, YOUR NOSE TICKLES!!!

[She's fine. Presumably still trapped under something (???) or stuck in something (???????????) but she's fine.]

It sounds just like her, and I don't think this place is malicious...

( she can't help but look away nervously though, clutching her staff tight. ~~owie her fingers.~~ )

She's west of us... but it will be a long ways away. She doesn't seem to be in danger, but she's stuck, I think.

[He's not in danger of floating off at the moment, but he still lets Min hold him by the shoulders anyway. It feels nice!]

Huh. Maybe she got pinned somewhere when all that stuff fell from the sky?

[He leans as much as he's able while being held to peek in the direction Lily was pointing before. Obviously he won't see Ydalir, but what's in that general direction?]

[A long way, huh? If that's the case they should probably start out sooner rather than later. Min-Gi has the strange feeling he can help with that, but if Ydalir isn't hurt, then he wants to make sure Ryan is also unhurt for their journey.

He's aware that leaning in to sing softly but briefly into Ryan's ear is weird, but he is also very much under the impression that the logic will become clear quickly.

Unfortunately for him their regular magic is off the cards right now. There's no sparkles. No haze of blue mist. No healing. Just the mortification of knowing how insane that must have looked.

He lets go of Ryan's shoulders as though he's been burned, taking a quick step back. Floating away suddenly sounds like it would be a great option, but all he gets is a slight reduction in opacity that doesn't actually leave him feeling any less visible to their little group.]

[ Okay, fine, west. It's a bit difficult to regain his equilibrium given the chaos, but she points her staff and he pivots. Something to do is more than welcome! Without further ado, he starts to move in the indicated direction. A singular glance is cast over his shoulder to ensure that Mystery is still with them, and then a weighty side-eye in Ryan and Min-Gi's general direction. ]

Not even gonna ask. [ Enjoy your couples' singing or whatever the hell. ]

Since we're separated from the others, sounds like we should just head in that direction? Not like we're gaining anything standing around here.

[He is indeed still with them! Not dognapped!

And not casting shade at the couples' singing hour, either, actually, though... maybe the encouraging(?) little tail wag he gives is worse. Sorry not sorry if it is.

He does have the distinct feeling he could "go west very far" on his own and probably find... something... but for now, staying with people seems like the smarter plan. That said, he is very suddenly right next to Lily after that thought. Oops...?]

[In that general direction is... a whoooole lot of buildings, and just on the outside edge, what looks to be a treeline and perhaps forest. It's hard to tell. You're pretty far away.

Lily is still going to hear Ydalir saying shit while she presumably tries to unbury? unstick?? herself from whatever situation she's gotten herself into. There's something thrown in about "I really want that thing in the treeeeee" that sounds particularly childish, but she is, for all intents and purposes, probably? still stuck. Hard to say.

In any case, you have many options to get to where Far Away is. Have fun figuring out how you want to do this.]

... The forest. She was talking about a deer, and something she wants in a tree.

( ... though, the fact that she can hear ydalir and the others can't has her thinking- )

We've displayed some new abilities in this realm. Maybe we can get there faster.

[Thankfully Ryan doesn't float off again when Min lets go, but he does turn around to make sure he's okay, and offers a small smile. He can kind of tell what he tried to do and he's touched - even if it didn't work and was a little embarrassing for him.]

Hey, don't disappear on me.

[Literally, he means. He offers a kind hand to bring him back into the circle, but even if Min doesn't take it he'll motion for him to come back.]

Maybe! I don't know if my new thing will help? I think all I got is, uh. This...

[And with maybe the least amount of enthusiasm possible, Ryan puts his hands together and pulls them apart, making a little rainbow between them for a second.]

[Min doesn't take the hand, but he does shuffle back, trying to ignore Mystery's wagging tail. He doesn't want to get separated from them again if there's another surge in the crowd, or anything else happens.]

I don't know. I get this feeling I could help, but...

[But after the failed attempt to heal Ryan, he's reluctant to embarrass himself again. It's not like he can turn down a direct request though. Min closes his eyes, willing something to happen. Even without knowing quite what he's doing, this is much more successful than his attempt to heal whatever bruise had been left behind when Ryan had been hit.

His eyes fly open when he feels a nudge at his shoulder. He turns to see two white unicorns flanking him, each with striking pink manes and tails.]

Oh.

[This definitely could be helpful, though they do seem to be protective of Min-Gi, and one especially glowers at Ryan for the crime of standing too close to Min.

Strong as they look, they're also probably not capable of carrying all five of them to where Ydalir is.]

[ What an odd little collection of powers they’d apparently been granted to help with their proving grounds. Sanemi already has a marked idea of his given they’d just been utilized to save the dog-person drifting away into the atmosphere, but use-case of their collective varied largely.

Maybe they didn’t all have to be useful for traversal. Probably wasn’t the point. Not all heart-searching had to be useful, or whatever the hell. ]

Can’t say for certain, but mine seems related to… making things lighter or heavier? Not like I can fucking touch any of you, though, so who knows how useful that’ll be. I’m plenty fast on my own, though.

[At this point, Mystery is wondering if these new powers are even part of the "soul-searching" at all... It doesn't feel like it, but it also doesn't not feel like it, so...

Someone smarter in the ways of this esoteric magic nonsense than him can figure it out. Maybe.

Although, yes, it does seem like this convenient set of powers to get you where you need to go would work to get you to the forest faster! That's crazy. I wonder if the mod set it up so this would happen. I wonder if that was on the mod's spreadsheet. Crazy shit happening really.

Of course, the city is a rapidly-changing beast; one second there's an alleyway to Mystery's right, and the next second there is no alleyway because it's been replaced with a candle store... so you may or may not have your work cut out for you getting there.
