Alright crew here's how this is gonna work:
- Mod responses will come after every player has tagged in OR after 24 hours have passed. If you do not tag in those 24 hours you will be skipped over.
- OOC communication will be done through the Discord in a thread in RP-Talk-1. You don't have to unmute, but please have your pings on so that if I need to @ everyone, I can. For now we will clusterfuck everyone into one thread; if we need to split into 3 for the groupings we will, just lmk.
- I am going to give you an initial "go play" toplevel somewhere in this as a heads up (this is my contingency for "Wolfie is out/busy or players are out/busy and we still want to play"). I do not recommend hitting the bell on this one, but this is so that all fourteen of you can interact at once. I want you to fuck around and go play in this one. I promise you this one does not need to be mod-guided (but ask me questions if you need to). I sort of put a lot into this setting and I'd feel bad not letting you all do the thing oops.
- PLEASE GOD IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS @ ME IN THE DISCORD chat might move fast and I might not see it. PING ME. I'm begging. I'm on my knees. A ping for Wolfie, please.
- Please hit the bell on your group threads :) and try to maintain some semblance of a tag order. For the initial "all fourteen of you are together" I will not ask for you to maintain tag order and I'm sorry for anyone's inboxes. I will try to get through this in a manner that does not make you want to explode. I was woefully underprepared for 90% of the game to actually want to do this sorry-

QUEST START!

[Ydalir has gathered you all here for a quest. Into the leylines you will head, as she's explained to you. It takes her about an hour to set up the ritual to take you in there, and in her words, she has "almost no idea what will happen". Still, everyone is thanked for being here — as she meticulously draws out spell runes using her fingertip, leaving trails of glowing mana in her wake — and then she stands, hands on her hips, and assesses the lines and shapes in the magic circle. It's big enough to encompass all fourteen of you, and for now, Ydalir stands on the outside of it. Thinking.]

The goal is to get in there and redirect the leylines... up! The magic will then be used to stitch the wound in the sky closed, I hope? I think. I'm kind of improvising at this point, but I know from trial and error we can't do it from the ground since the leylines are [she leans forward and places a shadowy hand on the ground] here and they really want to sit here. The redirection should be temporary though. I need bodies to help me stabilize the magic since it should flow through us while we're redirecting it, kind of like a conduit.

[She thinks this explanation makes sense, and steps her way into the circle. It immediately begins to slowly strobe between all colours of the rainbow, and she very suddenly claps her hands together and then reaches for the two people nearest to her to hold onto their hands.]

Hold onto each other, please! I don't want you to get separated! Any questions ask them quickly likerightnow!!

[ He was spending the prep time... about as helpfully as he could. He didn't want to get in her way, but he jotted down notes about the components of the rune to ask about later. He's being a proactive little student.

He is a little surprised by being Grabbed, but he tucks the notebook away and extends his free hand to the others. ]

What should we expect while the magic is flowing?

[Similarly to Faust, Link is being an overachiever and taking notes, both mental and physical. Yes he brought a notebook yes he has a pen don’t worry about how many colored tabs this notebook has he’s so normal.

He will, however, tuck it away into his jacket the moment they’re instructed to hold hands, taking Faust’s hand carefully with his left before extending his right. Atuuda, his golem, hovers around his neck as a precaution, but he’s nice so don’t worry. He will “gwaa” in greeting when the next person takes Link’s hand.]

Hold on tightly. Even the smallest current of energy can be enough to sweep you off your feet.

[ Sanemi is being an... underachiever, and is not writing anything down. He has largely contented himself with observing the preparation that has been going into the ritual, though he did pay markedly close attention to the runes. Just in case.

He openly, visibly grimaces when they are prompted to hold hands. He does so begrudgingly, silently thankful that he is holding out his left hand rather than his right. ]

We aren't going to have to stand like this the whole fucking time, right?

[This is Dipper's special interest so he's paying pretty close attention and also taking notes, but Dipper carrying around that thick leather blue journal of his isn't new. He's carried that thing around with him since he was 13.]

[Once it comes time to get the show on the road, he shuts it and tucks it into an inner coat pocket that should not be big enough to hide a book that big and yet it does. He'll take Sanemi's other hand.]

Probably not, but at least until we're on steady ground again. Hopefully.

[Another one not writing anything down, Lavi is looking down at the runes with a gentle frown. A polyglot, he's always looking for connections, but as always it seems there's bits and pieces that pull at him. He lifts an eye towards the middle of the circle as he grasps Dipper's hand, other extended for whomever is next to join them in the circle.

He grins, trying to lighten the mood as always.] No one gets air-sick, do they?

[Not that he thinks they're going up, they might, but not the way they're used to, most likely.]

[Just gonna... quietly snatch at his hand, thank you very much.]

[Genya sounds... weirdly defensive for a guy who has never actually been in the air. He's just a baby leave him alone.]

Though, uh... [Genya lowers his voice, hopefully light enough to not get Ydalir's attention.] Hasn't this lady messed up magic like... a lot. Whose to say this spell won't vaporize us all?

[ Okay, kid, you get nestled in between whomever was standing on whichever side of Sanemi. Sorry to them. Genya gets a particularly strong grip on his hand for his efforts. ]

[Sorry to whoever was there but this is his big brother, you see.]

[ Zoey... has also not been writing things down! She's leaving that to the note-takers. There seem to be plenty, so it's fine! Probably! She does look at the runes, though, because they're actually kind of cool ngl.

But when it comes time to take hands, she will take Lavi's, since they're all kind of chaining along! Though, she turns to look at Genya as she does. ]

Sometimes mistakes happen! I'm sure it'll be fiiiiiine! I trust her. Like a lot.

[ She is definitely not trying to make her voice small. Oops. ]

[Because Mystery sure does not trust her outright!! He doesn't... not trust her, either, though? It's complicated.

What isn't complicated is how quick he is to take Zoey's other hand, because obviously. Sorry to anyone who might have been reaching, the purple boys (hi Genya) are Like This.]

[taking Mystery's hand, he's mostly quiet, waiting for the question to be answered. he looks like he's not afraid, because he's not. he's never interacted with magic leylines, or anything, but he's traveled through space. a lot. he should be fine]

We are probably strong enough to not be vaporized. We survived summer camp in the spring.

...Surviving summer camp and surviving being vaporized are two really different things, dude.

[Ryan has never once stopped to take physical notes and he's not about to start now. It seems safe though? He's not sure if it's because he trusts her or because he has his own source of magic now, but...it would be kind of weird to vaporize them at this point.]

Guys, it's probably fine! She's also done a lot of really cool good magic too. She's never messed up anything we've gone to her for, right?

["We" being him and Min-Gi - they grabbed for each others' hands even before the others started chaining, and Ryan connects them to the larger group by taking Stardust's hand as well.]

[Since he thankfully doesn't need to scramble to grab Ryan's hand before someone does, Min can simply nod. He gets the mistrust after all the weirdness with the candy, but he does trust her.]

Mmhm. I really don't think she'd ask us if she thought this could hurt us.

[He's a little nervous, but Ydalir wouldn't do anything to hurt them. It's fine. They'll be fine. His breathing is only a little shaky.]

Getting vaporized isn't that bad, anyway! We'll be fine.

[They haven't spoken... ever... so he doesn't say anything about it (not that he would have anyway, honestly), but he does let some of his patterns show across his cheek. They're... kind of like cracks. They'll stick around, too.
