Beat snoffles his way to the northwest. He passes by the clinic and lab, sniffs his way past the inn, up and up and up... until he hits a patch of black grass, and that scent of burnt flesh becomes particularly overwhelming. Welcome to the Burned Town. It's burnt.

Beat will immediately find the skeleton of a small rodent embedded into the mud. And, if he goes further north into the town, there's another next to a sinkhole. And even further north is a human femur! Wow! So many bones for Beat. They taste like mud and ashes. :)
