Gale preferred to be his own lab rat, thank you very much, but that there might be a place where he could run his own tests without too much interreference would be something of a boon in the future. For now this was a simple, though not entirely conclusive test that he could run on symptoms if not on determining whether or not the affliction was still there. The fact that it caused Astarion to recoil did inspire Gale to crack a grin, a slight grin, dramatic as always - some things clearly do not change and perhaps that was a comfort. Though to be fair Astarion's outbursts were also amusing.
