Whiskey For My Men, Beer For My Moder
Who: Luca Aurelius + Your Friends Around The Grove | You
What: Only a week late, it's a bar log!
When: Through August/September/Up until I post the next one of these
Where: The Watchtower Bar
Warnings: Alcohol consumption, possibly to excess.
Another month, another round of drinks for the town. It's especially important seeing as how everyone seems to be fondling stones and acting weird. Don't think he doesn't see it. He does. It would be the perfect opportunity for an entrepreneur to raise his rates and charge an arm and a leg for those seeking to get away from their woes.
Nevertheless, prices remain the same.
As always, there's plenty of food to go around. A fresh pot of soup, rather than stew, is on the pot. It's much lighter and more befitting of the hot weather, he thinks. The usual array of bar and card games can be found, for those seeking to challenge (or swindle) their allies.
And of course, one can't forget the ghost, always looming and watching the crowd with subtle delight.
Notably, there is a slight shift in the food being served toward the end of the month. On one specific day, the 28th, for those keeping track, they'll find that instead of Luca's usual soups, stews, and pies, there will be a veritable buffet of appetizers, entrees, and desserts.
Oh my god, there are so many desserts.
On one table, several loaves of fresh bread can be found. Melted, brie cheese can be found in a pot nearby, while another container of spinach dip sits at the ready to be spread. Raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and strawberries form a colorful display at the center of it all, and yes there is plenty of whipped cream for dipping.
On a second table nearby is an array of items more suited to entrees. Rows of lighter meats, such as glazed duck beast and blackened fish can be found. Curiously, there's no red meat to be found on this table. They are accompanied by bowls of potatoes, rice, and a few lavish salads adorned with berries, apples, and fancy cheeses.
Both of these pale in comparison to the dessert... tables. There's at least three tables pushed together. More fruit can be found here, with caramel and other dipping sauces readily available. Multiple cobblers made from various types of berries and other fruits sit ready and waiting. And at the center of it all? A fudgy triple chocolate cake adorned with raspberries.
It's a lot. And if one were to ask Luca what the occasion is, they'll only receive a shrug. "Just make sure to save some for the others" he'll say.

[kiera has absolutely not been keeping track. in fact, for a few minutes after they enter, they cannot for the life of them imagine why so many foods that appeal directly to them are here.
give them about fifteen minutes of forgoing booze entirely, of inhaling bread and cheese and fruit, though, and they sit straight up with a jolt. their preferences, on a random day in late summer. kiera snaps their head toward the bar and... glares? at luca.]
Fucking phoenix feathers. [quil and nia would both be furious. the thought simultaneously amuses and pains kiera.] This isn't fair. You know I can't eat this much.
the 28th - open
[despite their playful bitching with luca earlier, kiera has made a... considerable dent in many platters and pots over the course of a few hours. the stack of bowls and plates around them is not as bad as some in the grove, but also nothing to shrug off. they look a bit miserable about it, actually.
and yet... if you dare try to reach for any of the other slices of that bigass cake, you are getting a short blast of icy wind at your hand. not enough to cause damage, but certainly enough to make you think twice.]
The cake is mine.
wildcard - any time
[she practically lives here, just come bother her]
no subject
Mm? What's all that about? [He glances toward the food, then back at them.] I suppose if it cannot be finished, I'll leave it in the larder for another day. Surely someone will come along and handle it, right?
no subject
they look across the tables, then at their own fucking hands. yeah, ser living refrigerator themself didn't think of that first. cue a roll of the eyes and a dismissive pout.]
... I suppose your logic is sound.
no subject
[guess what luca! a brand new patron! pretty much as soon as he finds out there's a tavern in town, craig, dressed down rather than in his armor, makes his way inside. not just for the booze, honest. there's hardly any better way to learn about a place than by hanging out in its local bar. this one is decidedly more... antiquated? than he's used to, but it's charming nonetheless. he takes up a stool and nods at the bartender.]
Hey. Nice place.
open
[while he may not be in here as often as certain parties, craig is still a regular. if he recognizes someone entering more than once, he gives an acknowledging nod accompanied by an easygoing grin.
if someone happens to approach his general vicinity before flamebringer's netbook post re: the Evil Rocks™, craig's own pouch of crystals is near him on the table, with a hand-written FOUND PROPERTY paper sign on it. yeah, he isn't a victim of the evil rocks because he just... thinks it's someone else's misplaced bag.]
no subject
That's about when he looks up and... narrows his eyes.]
You're new here.
[Luca is apparently pointing out the obvious today!]
no subject
You got a house white, Mr. The Watchtower?
no subject
Nevertheless, he does turn and get to pouring. A healthy glass is served up and gently set before the man.]
Welcome to Aldric's Grove, Craig. And more specifically, to the Watchtower Bar. My name is Luca Aurelius.
no subject
[it still makes him smile though!]
Thanks, Luca. How long you been in for? [he's gathered that they're all more or less trapped, which kind of makes it like a prison, if you think about it.]
no subject
[But yes, Luca cracks half of a smile as well.]
Beasts, I believe I have lost track. Several months? There was still snow on the ground when I first arrived.
no subject
Good. Now quit your pouting and enjoy your gift.
[Said gift is pulled from beneath the counter. It's a velvet box, about the size a wine bottle might be. And when she opens it, sure enough. There's a bottle of Aurelian Sweet Rose, adorned with a sparkly blue ribbon.
While Kiera is distracted, Luca pulls something else out. It's a confetti popper that he immediately pulls, raining goldfish shaped confetti onto Kiera's hair. Look, he can't be completely nice.]
crashes in here to destroy your nice log
Anyway, Flamebringer can be found nebulously Around™, either eating his fill of basically everything here and chugging liquor straight from the bottle, or drunkenly inviting others to sit down and play cards with him. He is, like, white girl wasted right now, so there's a high chance he will not remember anything come tomorrow.
Drinking contest, anyone?]
no subject
when they finally look up, well, the popper goes off, and they actually jump a little. what was an uncharacteristically soft face twists into the grumpiest scowl.]
You little shit! I was going to ask you to have a glass with me, but now you won't see a drop.
no subject
That is quite a while. But you've still had time to build a whole business, around the gettin' chased by beasties and evil demigods stuff.
no subject
[There's no venom or malice here, just... amusement. His chest certainly still feels as heavy as it ever does, but joking with Kiera has begun to feel more and more natural. It's almost... normal.]
Just shut up and enjoy it, alright?
no subject
As for the clientele. I think you will find that being here naturally leads one to want to drink. Easier to forget.
no subject
Don't order me about, civilian. I outrank you.
[despite the threats, kiera closes the velvet box's lid for now. this isn't the sort of bottle one downs in one sitting in an open tavern. they'll save it for later, so they can have a proper, private moment with their brother. surely kiera has tasted a similar vintage much more recently than luca, given his... international escapades.]
