[Toge Inumaki opens his eyes and finds himself...where is he exactly? It’s not entirely clear where he is, or how he got there, frankly, he’s just leaning against a tree asleep. Hmph. Asleep no less. Who has time to sleep?
He gets to his feet, still looking around more than anything. He slides his right hand in his pocket. His left sleeve is empty and fluttering in the wind. The flowers seem strange and out of place, but leaning over to look at one, wondering if this is some kind of domain, when it snaps he pulls his hand away quickly. He’s only got one of those, he needs to keep it.
It’s the inn where he ends up, pushing open the door and peering around it to see who’s in the lobby. Not because he’s looking for someone in particular, but rather, he’s looking for anyone he recognizes. Yuta maybe? Maybe not.
He steps inside, feeling a little self-conscious. Toge probably looks small, both because he is and hiding behind the high collar of his uniform jacket doesn’t really help paint a picture of confidence, no matter how he feels in this moment.]
II. Hey
[Those tendrils are brutal and while Toge can jump around, avoiding them, he can only do so for so long.
Whomp. The tendril gets a good hold of his ankle and he faceplants on the ground. His arm is outstretched, digging into the dirt as he tries to drag himself away, calling for attention, from anyone.]
Tuna! Tuna! [It might not be the most compelling cry for help. If he gets really desperate, he’ll cry for help proper.]
[Desperate, muddied fingers pull down his school collar so he can reveal his face, there’s what looks like some kind of seal on either side of his mouth and when he screams, anyone close enough can see there’s another on his tongue.]
Help me! [That should do it, but with the volume he needs to use, there’s already blood trickling down his chin.]
((ooc: please note if your character hears ‘help me’ this is cursed speech and they will be compelled to do so, unable to resist his order for a minute or two. They are free to call him on this, they are also free not to engage with that part of the prompt and find him at his first cries.))
III. It’s Alright.
[Toge is shaking. Why he’s feeling so strongly about his failure, even though it wasn’t his fault, why he feels so strongly about his biggest cardinal sin being that he exists at all...he doesn’t know. It’s amplified.
He really, really should be in bed. He’s looking pale, trembling and walking on in unsteady, uneven steps. A walk will help him clear his head.
It’s too late. The forest is closing around him. Fuck.
He raises his fist and slams it on the leaves. Anything? Nothing?
No give. Great. A labyrinth. Just what he wanted to do.
Toge really, really should’ve stayed in bed. Instead he’s out there, facing his demons and the whispers. “Why didn’t you save us? Everything was supposed to be okay...”
He has little else to do but walk forward, keeping his head down with his arm wrapped around himself. ]
IV. Bonfire & Feast
[By this time, Toge has been through the ringer. He feels alone and abandoned, which isn’t that weird but he’s been spoiled going to high school.
He grabs a seat without grabbing a plate and drapes his arm on the table and drops his chin upon it.
He’s just not hungry. He doesn’t know what to make of this strange forest, but one thing is for sure, he feels like he’s trapped. Unfortunate, that. He isn’t sure what he should do next. ]
((ooc: Toge understands people just fine, but he talks in a cipher due to his cursed speech. It can't be helped, but he does have his phone on him.))
