There is a sickening ripping sound as one set, two sets, three sets of wings unfurl from Vash’s back. More feathers sprout along the span of his arm, the length of his neck. Countless sets of eyes seem to open and close in the span of a single second.
His hand grips feebly at the air, somewhere between reaching and clawing. The nails, once dulled, are sharp yet again, long and dangerous daggers that gouge unthinkingly at his hand and arm. His eyes stare skyward, wide and unseeing. The screams don’t stop, nor does the blood now pouring from his newly formed wounds.
And, all at once, his body pitches forward once more. He hunches awkwardly, chest heaving as he seems to catch his breath from his screaming. He stares through Livio at first, then locks eyes on him.]
