[And shit like lighters are hard to come by, back home. Everything is expensive, and once it runs out, you're clamoring for more. Wolfwood really shouldn't even be spending what he has on lighters and cigarettes but he isn't sure he'd survive without them.]
The brand back home tends t'stay lit for longer, but that also means the trade-off is they taste like absolute shit.
[Danny slips his phone out of his pocket, scrunching his nose up at the clock that is, indeed, "glitching the fuck out." He's seen that before, actually - it does the same thing in Clockwork's lair. (Is that why Clockwork hasn't shown up to bring him back to the right timeline yet? Or is this the best timeline? Danny's not sure he likes either option, really!)]
Yeesh. You're not kidding.
[He pokes around on his phone for a minute, seeing what still works. No signal at all, even though Tucker had managed to get all their phones working in the Ghost Zone, too. Well, that tracks.]
[ Despite said large claws, Temeraire has managed to separate the different lantern pieces into different piles, so it should be easy for Dys to sort through once he gets his gauntlets off.
But almost instantly he loses interest in the lantern, far more curious about what Dys just said. ]
You don't have any dragons?
[ Even if Dys has issues reading Temeraire's expression, his tone is one of plain surprise. ]
I didn't think I had managed to come to such an isolated place.
[ He hasn't quite put together that he's in an entirely different world yet. For some reason, no one has been in a rush to explain. ]
tingyun blinks, before tapping her finger to her chin in thought. )
I'm sorry, that isn't a blend I'm familiar with... we may be able to order some from the Trader, but until then, can you tell me what it's like? I can find something similar, I'm sure.
( she returns the bow, at least. but... it's hard not to beat herself up. she shouldn't have assumed, and even if there's no sign of recognition, there's no telling how much is his poker face or not. )
That's a relief- I'm sure they'd try, but I'm not sure I'm too fond of having to go through trial and error. Though, my medical history is a bit... complex.
Habit? It's pretty normal where I come from. It only really messes with your head if you have too much, otherwise it's just good for staying awake and all that.
If you're looking to stay awake, I believe the 'breakfast tea' will help with that? Otherwise, I'm afraid nothing in the kitchen would provide the unique experience that your blep tea offers, I'm sorry.
[Shiki hadn't the foggiest what was going on, how she got here, where she was, anything, but if there was one thing she did know, it was that she had to survive. She hadn't gone through all the things she'd gone through, endured all she'd endured, just to perish now in this strange land! Stubbornly did her feet continue to trudge through the snow, following the softly glimmering lights and the tug of her heart towards a place she knew yet didn't know, nostalgia choking her-- or maybe that was just the necklace hanging heavy around her neck.
Her instincts beeline her to the inn, throwing the doors open as her nearly frost bitten limbs threatened mutiny against moving any further in the freezing snow. She only manages to make it as far as the fire in the lobby before she collapses in a heap, shivering pathetically as the amulet began to sloooowly drip drop and melt away from the emanating heat.]
C-c-cold... ssssoo c-cold....
Beacons;
[It had been a long time since Shiki had to fight anything, three whole years in fact, and she didn't have access to her psychs now to try and do so even if she wanted to. So, it's relieving that at least there's something she can do, with these lantern kits the strange woman had given her and some others, and being the crafty person she is, she's very much up for the task. Vigilantly does she go about hanging them in windows, though any lantern done by her has a little cat face drawn on it, for the fun of it.]
I wonder if I can alter the fur that woman gave me to make myself a warmer jacket...
[She's mumbling to herself as she sets another lantern in a window. Sometimes, the good listener in life you need is yourself.]
I have my travel sewing kit, but I dunno if that'd be enough for such a thick fabric... might break the needle.
[ Well! It isn't every day that a familiar face stumbles into the inn. Particularly not one that Joshua ever expected to see here. From his invisible perch in the inn foyer - he's been watching all the new arrivals for fun and profit, mostly fun - he narrows his eyes. After it had only been him and Beat for the majority of a year, he'd thought the stream from Shibuya had ended. Apparently, he'd thought wrong.
There are plenty here that he's sure would help her, of course, but... Well. She's his responsibility. Anyone that comes here from Shibuya is. And she looks halfway to frozen, to boot. It certainly wasn't winter when he came here, and it looks to be no different for Shiki, considering what she's wearing.
Distracted by the cold as she is, she may not notice Joshua's admittedly silent approach, but surely she will notice the blanket being draped over her back. ]
Outside by yourself on a night like this? I didn't think you were the type, Shiki Misaki.
[It takes a second to register that she's being spoken to through the loud chattering of her teeth, let alone that it was a familiar voice she was hearing. She didn't exactly have extensive amounts of experience interacting with Joshua compared to say, Neku or Beat, but enough to fondly call him "Josh", so that counts for something. Shiki immediately curls the blanket around her with a sigh of relief, before slowly forcing her protesting limbs to lift her into an upright sitting position to look up at her Partner's Partner.
First things first:]
Thank you.
[The blanket is much appreciated, and it earns him a smile.]
I don't know how I even got here, I was just... I was in Shibuya, and then suddenly, I was in the woods in the snow...
[Her brow scrunches, lips then pursing into a frown as the wheels start to turn in her frozen over brain. If Joshua was here, that didn't mean this was Game related, was it...?]
[ Ah, look how far that blanket is already going. Good, good. She won't freeze to death. Not that she would, of course, being inside the inn with a nice, roaring fire, but that amulet around her neck may still pose a problem. Hmm.
The 'thank you' goes unanswered, for now. He just lifts his hand, waving his fingers in a dismissive gesture. ]
That sounds about right. Unfortunate for you, considering the weather back at home. Doesn't look like you were prepared for it.
[ Those shoes are not snow shoes, that's for sure. ]
Before you do anything else, you may want to toss that amulet into the fire, by the way. It's not doing you any favors.
I chose the fabric for this outfit when I put it together to be light and airy despite the layers, in fact.
[So not for the snow. But then she looks down at her neck, blinking.]
When did that even get there?
[She's gonna do as he says though, and as it fizzles into steam in the fire with a pitiful pop and wheeze, the effects on her half frozen limbs are almost like night and day. Her face starts to return to a proper tone instead of being overly flushed from the cold, the blue tinges of her finger tips fading back into pink as she clutches the blanket tight around her.]
Ezell said he bites. [Sighs.] Would it make you happy to know that "my" Elsword is perfectly normal? No Illuminous Phenomenon?
[You're in the wrong fucking timeline.]
I don't know what else to share. Ms. Fox trips over her own feet often, Mr. Shadow is very shy and doesn't understand when we're teasing him sometimes, Ms. Magician is loud as ever, Mr. Half-Demon makes cookies for all of us... um, who else? [He doesn't know Lithia yet because I have not finished reading Serpentium rip.] Ms. Queen still gets on Mr. Ancient for being stupid, haha. Oh, Mr. Half-Nasod is reckless and got pretty badly hurt in a fight with a demon of the Torta Clan, but they're friends now~ kind of~.
[Good news, Ain will come into view soon. He has to hold his heavy dragon tail up high and over his head because it is otherwise Too Long and will touch the snow, which is cold and wet and yucky, so that might look like a strange giraffe-like blur before he actually comes into view. The tail is Up. The top half of it is resting on top of his head, very purposefully.
Snow cold, you see.]
Hi! Follow me!
[Please god follow him it is too cold to be out here in the blizzard, he doesn't even introduce himself, that can wait until they're actually indoors.]
[Sesa is silent as Thorns says his piece, because he is right. He isn't about to say that he isn't.
But still...
He follows slowly, his boots dragging through the snow.]
They glow because they keep small Seaborn in them. The Seaborn injure themselves, throwing their bodies at the walls in an attempt to escape. Their natural bio-luminescence from their injuries causes the glow.
Every Seaborn in that river came from one of those lamps.
She barely has time to be embarrassed that her inner monologue hadn't exactly been so inner, because her eyes are lighting up as she looks at Ain with keen interest.]
Oh! You sew, too? I'd really appreciate borrowing some of your supplies, but I don't wanna impose!
