You were the one givin' the impressive light show! Still, this storm is something else... and doesn't seem to wanna get her claws outta you just yet. Can you walk, friend? I will give a shoulder if you need it, but I think you might crush me.
[ The flames dying so fast and making him feel so ill were something new. He nods to the question, rotating his shoulder a little. The joke gets a little smile from him. ]
[ The hand on his back makes him blink, but it's a kind gesture and he'll take it. The comment gets the slight smile to slip and he glances out with the Beastman towards the woods. He trusts one so connected to nature as they are. ]
Then we fight. Nothing will be sacrificed.
[ Not if he has anything to say about it. No one, nothing, dies for this. He begins to walk, leaning a little due to the ice pulling on his side. ]
[Thorns is just not a talker! You know this motherfucker you told half of Iberia that he couldn't talk to people!!
...but he will take that hug, assuming Elysium doesn't mind freezing fingertips in the back of his hair and feathers. This is as natural as breathing, somehow. His hand always goes there, every single time.]
It isn't like you don't call every week.
[He says, as his head flops onto Elysium's shoulder.]
[Usually when Ain hears voices in his head it's his mom—
The voice is unfamiliar, though. It sounds like whoever this is might be dying? Ain can't let that happen, and so he ventures out of the inn to go find the man. It's actually ridiculously easy to find him thanks to the fact that Dachie races ahead first, so Elysium will be greeted with a very weird dog trying to drag him inside before Ain appears a second later... looking definitely like a Vouivre-Sankta hybrid probably, sorry.]
Haha, Mister... follow me. The inn is this way.
[There is :) inquisition fire in there :) surely you'll love that—]
[Hey, wait a second... he knows that voice! Danny thought this place seemed familiar, but he hadn't really been here long enough to confirm it.]
Dipper!?
[Oogh, even trying to shout through the ice sends chills spiking down into his lungs. Danny shudders, starting to shiver again, pulling away from the side of the dome Dipper's attacking as much as he can.]
I-it's ghost ice, you're gonna need something more than just force!
W-well yeah, but...I don't get to see you! It's different...
[Ourgh, that hand in his hair...Elysium just puffs up even more, much like a contented bird with his favorite person. Which, that's what he is right now pretty much.
When Thorns drops his head onto his shoulder, Elysium takes his turn to cradle the back of it for a moment. Like, if anyone saw these two they'd be like "oh they're GAY gay" when, really, this is just how it is.
Ain... what else, he sneezes. Because it's cold, and he has ice magic, and he has not yet put together that this is going to make everything worse. Even if he knows like, two freeze spells max...
Anyway, he's taking his snowy coat off so it can get water all over the floors and sitting down on the couch.]
Haha, okay. I'm not worried, I just don't drink much coffee.
[Oh wow that IS a Vouivre-Sankta hybrid, hello. Elysium has no reason to think he isn't on Terra still so he's just like ??? we're just out here doing this now?
He will bend at the knees and wiggle his fingers at Dachie a little though. Hello doggie.]
Haha wow, Mister! So formal! I could get used to that...
[PLEASE don't inflate his ego any more than it's already inflated, you will make him worse-
At least he has this before he steps into the Inn and is blasted in the face with fucking Inquisition fire.]
[Passenger is looking over at them from the counter nodding like yeah, every bird needs a non-bird boyfriend or they'll die, that's just how it works.]
I can't say for certain. Time doesn't pass correctly, [and he pulls his arm back away from Elysium, the metal within his flesh rippling as he tries for the thirtieth time in the last twelve hours to get the Compass to work with him,] nor is the Compass working.
[As is likely obvious. Anyway, he still has his other hand somewhere nebulously on Elysium's hip, completely absentmindedly while he stares down into his wrist.]
I found myself in the forest first, and then on the beach, and then walked back to civilization, then to the lab, and now here. [So it's been. Several days, at the bare minimum.] An oversized burdenbeast with no fur guided me from the seaside to here.
1. inn [anyone who met hunter last year might remember him with hair messier and longer than this near-buzzcut. he also seems like far less of a spitfire, keeping to himself a bit, not looking for excuses to talk down at everyone he passes.
he spends most of the day in the common area of the inn, since the fireplace is the only flame that stays alive. despite how long he's sat here, there's no sign of food or drink near him, nothing to pass the time. the only thing he seems to have with him is the blanket from up in his room, wrapped tightly around his shoulders as he stares out of a window, entranced by the voices of the wraiths...]
2. town [... the thing is, hunter is well aware that his voice isn't just his. he heard the other golden guards in belos' mindscape. what other choice does he have but to believe it's the same as their predecessor's? as haunted as he's been lately by the memory of the brothers, and not knowing that other people hear the voices... it's almost inevitable that he's eventually convinced to wander outside.
whether you find him standing in the cold and dark, unarmed, in nothing warmer than a sweater and pajama pants, or a frantic little red bird finds you and tugs your hair or sleeve in hunter's direction, the wraiths are quickly closing in.]
[Okay then! He'd gotten the impression that Dipper does Not mess around, and welp. Just another day in his life really. Danny drops to the ground immediately, lying as flat as he can manage considering the ground is where all the snow and ice is and his body is basically trying to curl into a ball on its own to conserve heat.]
[A.B.A's main concern throughout this winter nightmare has been the Grove's new collection of dragon babies. Seeing as the Inn is the warmest place right now, it only makes sense to keep them there, and thus she's been sure to visit frequently. Watching over them, guarding them, freaking out when something slams on the door.
That's certainly not a knock, and with the attacks going on, A.B.A gets defensive. A potential ambush may be scary, but she'll...she'll just have to be scarier. Cautiously, she peeks out the door, expecting the worst.]
Know this, any wrong move will be your last. Don't think for one second I won't kill you at this very door-
[No one is there.
Confused, A.B.A looks around every which way, until finally she looks down. Well this is about the worst attack she's ever seen. This person is already dead!]
Oh...I see you've done the difficult part for me. Very well.
[With surprisingly little effort, A.B.A grabs the scruff of whoever the heck this is's shirt and drags them into the warmth. If they haven't succumbed to the weather, they can rest and heal.
...If they're already dead, then A.B.A gets free blood. She wins either way.]
[Ain's big fat tail dragging through the snow as they go... don't worry, they'll get there soon. Dachie will stop dragging and go ahead to cut a path back to the inn once he knows they're following.]
Haha, I'm Ain. [A Leithanien Vouivre-Sankta...] How'd you reach into my thoughts like that? Do you read minds? [N. No Ain—] Usually I'm immune to that~.
[ The roar comes from behind Clive, and it's followed by a roaring ball of fire that flies past him, striking one of the wraiths dead-on.
It's a voice that Clive knows well, and when he ultimately turns to look, there stands Joshua. He's semi-primed, the flames of Phoenix licking over his skin and through his hair like embers in an effort to stave off the bitter cold, but he's hale and whole and maybe only just the tiniest bit frost-tinged on his clothes. ]
[Danny’s sole warning to what Dipper is about to do is the sound of a gun being cocked and the earth shattering Blam! erupting over Danny’s head. If he chanced a glance, he’d possibly even see the roar of blue flames as the coldblood crafted shot smashed into the dome. Ghost Ice meet bloodborne fire.]
[It sure is a good thing Dipper hung onto these in case of emergency, haha. Anyway, Dipper fires off the second round for good measure, busting an opening big enough for Danny to hopefully escape through.]
[ Even without the words, the voice - even echoing as it is with the power of priming in it - would be recognizable. Relief washes through him so strongly for a moment he feels weak, his knees wanting to buckle and drop him into the snow to weep with it. Instead he turns to look, relief bright in his eyes as he takes his brother in.
Alive.
The question is met with a nod and he pulls himself together, turning back towards the Wraiths. ]
I am. Let's finish this.
[ Something shifts within him, a sensation that feels like a cooling, the Phoenix falling silent. Which makes sense, but that still leaves him with Ifrit and he semi-primes as well, fire hissing and melting snow. ]
[The ice is extra sturdy thanks to the supernatural weather bolstering Danny's also supernatural ice powers, but yeah, bloodborne fire sure does do the trick. Danny flinches as the top of the dome cracks, then gets fully blasted off by the second shot, flying away in pieces over his head. It's more than big enough for him to get through, but...
...it's so hard to move. Danny tries, but can't really even get a grip on the edge of the hole, can't get his hands properly under him to push himself back up, his limbs are so stiff and won't really do what he wants. He only really manages to get kind of onto his side, and that's it.
So, what else can he do, he smiles dorkily up through the hole at Dipper, the ice still climbing over his chest and up his neck, making his voice thin and wheezy.]
Man, I'm so glad you're a better shot than my parents.
[And yep, that sure is Danny, if looking notably different from the last time Dipper saw him. Probably a lot more ghostly too on the supernatural senses side of things.]
[Don't worry, Dipper wasn't going to just let you fend for yourself. Once it's super clear Danny is hella not getting out on his own, Dipper leans into the hole to.]
[To see him smile up at him like a dork while being possibly on the verge of Actual Death, slowly freezing over and also being insanely more Ghost-like than he remembered.]
[S-Sigh. Dipper shakes his head, reaching his arms in to grab him and literally drag him out of the ice in as clean a movement as he can manage. Luckily Dipper's got both Sleeper strength and enough weapons training on his side that he's a lot stronger than he looks.]
C'mon man, tell me all about it later. I'm getting the feeling you got really lucky that I was in the area just now.
[Hope you like getting flung over his shoulder like a sack of Ghost Potatoes.]
[ Clive is alright. The rime gathering on him was concerning, but so long as they're here together, they can get through this. They have, after all, faced worse. ]
Right. Together!
[ Joshua pulls his rapier into his hand, summoning a flame to its blade. In his other hand, he summons a stronger fire, unleashing it toward the Wraiths in a plume of heat and flame. ]
