Pharmacies that more closely resemble the era I am from (that strange town is very close.) tend to be a one-stop convenience shop for all manner of things. The ones back home had hair color, so it may be worth a try...

Doing it yourself can be tricky, but it's doable. It's easier with an extra set of hands, though.
