Status Update: Starting this month, Mizuki is going to have small white leaves "sprouting" from his hair. There's not a ton, and only hardly noticeable, but they're there. Whether or not you want your character to notice or not is entirely up to you~!

[ If you just so happen to be walking past the well, Mizuki is holding out a handmade card and pen to you. On the front, it says "To Zahliya:". Inside, if you open it, is a short poem written by Mizuki.

A defender, protector, guardian,
But above all, a friend,
A heart made from purest love,
Upon which we can all depend.

A fondness for us, a defensive spirit,
The best protector, if I may say so,
Our fears and doubts can be soothed,
You're a guardian angel without the halo.

It's certainly not winning awards, but he's trying— ]

I wanted to write a card for Mister Zahliya! Coming back to all of us being here must be real jarring for him, and he said he really like poems. I think it'd be nice if we could make him a little happy.

[The card is tilted one way, then the other, as if a shift of the lighting might change the contents. It’s then flipped over, placed on receiving end of a fair bit of examination before the front also gains the same amount of attention.]

Hm.

[It's a thoughtful noise, and he leans his weight back to rest primarily on his left leg, reaching out to pluck the pen from Mizuki's offering hand. It's lifted up to his lips, where he gives the tip a quick little lick before lowering it back to the card. Naturally, his handwriting is as beautiful as it is big, and his signature takes up a considerable amount of space along the bottom of the page. Once finished, he passes both items back over.]

There you are, then. Is that all?

[ Upon receiving the Crime Scene Forensics Kit Ages 9+ (Title Pending), Mizuki ends up dragging Gnosis with him to go see Add. He has a "lab" anyway, and he figures that Gnosis and Add can put together what's going on with the ashes from the journal way better than Mizuki can.

"Does Mizuki and Gnosis even have a key to Elsword's place?" Who knows? Mizuki squeezes under the door to let them both in anyway. Privacy who? Never met her.

He'll at least knock on Add's door, though!!!! He's got some manners. ]

[Gnosis being a filthy enabler says something like "doesn't he keep the door unlocked" shortly before Mizuki schlorps under the door anyway. Okay.png.

Anyway hi they're here in your house now.]

[ Compared to Astarion's BIG BEAUTIFUL SIGNATURE, Caoimhe's penmanship is tiny and small. She writes upon it, her signature having never in her life done anything like this. Then adds a handmade talisman to go along with the letter of affection. It is a simple braid of threads, with several beautiful but smoothed rocks attached, then a feather. To keep Zahilya safe! ]

... I would... Love to sing him more songs soon then.

[ If you thought you could cancel your monthly subscription to "Invasive Questions About Philosophy and Psychology", you'd be wrong. If you're "alone" in a room with him in a corner, camouflaged, he'll suddenly sit next to you excitedly, now visible. Or maybe you're outside by yourself, and Mizuki suddenly grabs your hand with all the stars in his eyes. Or maybe, the normal (and coward) option of him simply waving to get your attention from across the Grove/room/etc. Pick your poison, really, but whatever the case, he's very enthused about picking your brain.

Thus, without even so much as a hello, he'll ask one of the following questions: ]

a. What do you think it takes to overcome a substantial amount of grief?

b. What does a "sense of self" mean to you?

c. Do you think having secrets is important in a relationship, or that they're someone you should be 100% open with?

d. [ Mizuki doesn't actually show up for this one. You're in a room, "alone", and Mizuki will wait until your back is turned or when you're busy with something else and subtly adjust things around the room. Books, pens, jars, rocks - whatever is available, ever so slightly to record if you'd notice or not, and your reaction to it. This experiment would get more obvious as time goes on. ]

[ Lancelot is VERY use to this behavior actually, way too use... Like the moment something flickers and moves from the corner of his eye. He all but slow turns to look at what it was. He sees it, and after about an hour he will finally speak on it. ]

Enough.

[ Lancer raises his hand with the lance coming into existence within his grip. Then throws it and sends it barreling just BARELY nicking one of the tendrils wiggling about. ]

I've had enough of this and your fae-like games.

[ Eep!!!!! Mizuki drops the camouflage and throws up his hands. He's still not sure how Mister Lancer can see through that so easily!!! He's usually so sneaky... It's his whole thing!!!! ]

Mister Lancer resorts to violence, noted!!!

[ He just, assumes that is what he means. ]

If you are just conducting research - then what for? What need?

People's perception and varying reactions to strange situations. You can learn a lot about someone with experiments like this, actually.

Like I can tell a lot about you already, Mister Lancer.

Do you know what one thing, your experiment does not seem to account for?

"One thing"... There's many things. The fact that people may mistake my meddling with something the Creature is doing, or those with abilities to see in different ways than normal, or those with a diligent enough awareness of their surroundings to see my shadow moving, or that those who know me well enough may be able to pick up on the fact it is just something I am experimenting with. I'm sure there's more. Unfortunately, I cannot get in an environment where these variables are not an issue, so I am trying to keep my margin of error pretty lenient instead of putting any concrete observations on anyone.

Sorry, again, for being a bit of a pest, I honestly wasn't trying to annoy you or anything. I could make it up to you, if you'd like.

Why are you even experimenting in the first place? If all you are looking to do is get better at this, then you should learn one thing first, and that's those with a warrior's instinct will know better if something is off.

[ Well, for what its worth, Mizuki doesn't seem mad when he gets it back. In fact, he gasps and looks up at Astarion with stars practically in his eyes. ]

You're handwriting is so nice!! [ Mizuki's own is... cute, but... maybe not "beautiful" by any means. ] Do you do calligraphy for, like, a living??

He said he likes songs, too! I was thinking about loaning him my music player sometime. I'm not too good at poems, but I thought, at the very least, this might cheer him up a little.

[ Sorry, Lancer! Mizuki will put himself down before you ever do. ]

[Never let it be said that Astarion isn’t the kind of person who preens under heaps of praise. This is the shit he lives for, and Mizuki’s starry-eyed awe is enough to get him all smug and self satisfied.]

Oh, not at all, darling. A hobby such as that couldn’t possibly hold my attention for any longer than a bell or two, but if you must know, I’m a magistrate back in the city I hail from. Proper penmanship is something of a necessity when it comes to the amount of documentation you must leaf through on a daily basis.

[He hasn’t been a magistrate in over two hundred years, of course, but that’s neither here nor there.]

If youre going to continue to talk at me, [ Lancer states cutting him off before the other repeats his question. There is a low growl in his voice, and his face seems to be unable to be read - though it always is devoid of emotions and deadpan. ] and observe me as if I am some play toy - I will, make sure to use you for my own gains, then.

[ As he says this, the Lance in his hand skims against the floor and he takes a battle stance. ]

[ Even if he did have an expression, Mizuki wouldn't have picked up much on it. He just stares at Lancelot, not making any effort to move himself. He sees the stance, hears his words, and there's something in his head that is telling him that this isn't something he should be engaging with. Survive.

I don't... understand. Did I say something wrong, Mister Lancer...? I wasn't trying to imply you to be a playtoy. I consider you a friend... That's why I want to get to know you better...?

[ The more the Lancer servant learns about this strange - being, that stalks around everyone and keeps himself within the shadows of his camouflage. The more deranged Lancer soon realizes the other is, his stances does not move. Heeding the child-like answer the other gives unto him - ]

Whether an ally or not, your words appear as diluted as your motivations for seeking a deeper understanding of me. [ Mild annoyance, ] I do not, take lightly, your antics of stalking about - I acknowledge that you have brought me down as a Dragon, with your own strength alone. A feat, worthy of earning you that much from me - but I will, not, continue to let you galavant yourself freely without my own discretion.

[ Mizuki is absorbing everything Lancer seems to be telling him, but he's still just staring at him like he doesn't quite understand anything he's actually saying. Is this not... correct? But no one else has said it was a bad thing? Maybe Lancer is just a private person? But he seems, like, really upset...

Mizuki glances to Lancer's weapon, then to his still aggressive stance. Mizuki stays relatively relaxed, even if he's having such a hard time parsing this conversation together clearly. ]

Do you want to hurt me?

[ He's genuinely trying to understand... ]

Hm. Paperwork and stuff is kinda dull, I think. I mean... I have to do it sometimes, too, for reports, but I don't much like it. Probably partially because my handwriting isn't that good...

Oh, but, thank you for signing!! Mister Zahliya will really appreciate it, I know it.

Yes. [ Forward, simple to understand. ] If you continue these antics.

[ Mizuki is right - he is a rather private person. ]

And your desire to get better at whatever it is you are doing, if you really mean that then - raise yourself as an enemy before me and fight.

[ She nods her head gently. ]

Ah— Oh, no, no. I can sort of write poems, but I can't sing. Thanks for the offer! I think I'll leave that stuff up to you, though.
