more than anything, it's disorienting to possess thoughts that aren't her own. pain is easier to take in stride. mental anguish is more difficult and she's no god. hiyori wasn't built to withstand the emotions of others in addition to her own. where is she supposed to separate herself? how is she supposed to get used to it? how, when they're hurting so much?
it's during a tide of negative emotions that hiyori thinks with all her might, with all her desperation, with all her heart, with tears in her eyes:

2. THE BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE
[ hiyori's outfit of choice, when she walks into this grand skeleton party, is apparently what one might expect to see of a doctor: a smart pencil skirt, a crisp blouse, small heels, and of course the quintessential white coat. her mask is carved into a butterfly and behind it, her eyes go big at what she's walked into. ]
Uwaaahhhh-- !! [ how did all of this fit into the tent?! incredible!
normally, she would immediately go to find someone she knows but it's so dark in here and everyone is wearing masks and costumes. how is she supposed to find anyone? what is she supposed to do...? as any teenager in a room full of strangers might do, she shuffles her way over to the buffet table and looks at all the fun snacks. she picks up something that looks like a ghost cookie and smiles at it, laughing to herself. ]
Hehe, cute. [ aaaaand as she goes to reach for another her fingers bump into someone else's. she startles, jerking her hand back and looking over. ]
Oh! Um, go ahead. You first.
