[netbook] starboy has a question
Greetings. I am Stardust Cookie.
Lately, I have been noticing words I have never seen before written in the notebooks. I've been trying to gather information on my own, searching up slang, and whatnot, when I am able. But there is one word that has stumped me. It seems to be used in all sorts of contexts and I cannot figure out where it comes from.
Could someone explain what fuck/fucks/fucking/fuckery means? What is its origin? Why is it used so much? How did it become so widespread?
Thank you for your time. ☄️
[signed with a little stupid drawing of a comet like this is a wholesome journal entry]

It's an expletive, for one.

Like "crumbs?"

[ He learned this himself in like, the past couple months, he is not equipped to explain it. It's still really weird to him conceptually. ]

Can I ask what the context of the words are? Perhaps we can learn together.

In the most recent entry, someone replied with, "slamming the fucking button as we speak." That same handwriting replied a little later, writing, "and i hope someone fucking kills me jesus christ in heaven."
There are several words in the second example that I do not understand. But you can see that the word fucking is used as an adjective both times, as in, "fucking button" and "fucking kills."

It sounds as though it's an add-on to a sentence in a way! Perhaps something to show excitement or to exaggerate.
However, I do hope that you never have to use it in some of that context!
im sorry
"fuck" is kinda general. you say it when you stub your toe or cut yourself cooking or drop a plate. it's kind of like saying "dang it" but 1000% worse and shouldn't be said by kids. technically anyway. fuck has many uses though. "fuck" can also mean sexual intercourse fyi.
you didn't ask about these but: "fuck me" is a way of saying "something severely awful happened and i don't want to deal with it". also a way of asking for sex. super depends on the context.
"fuck you" is a way of insulting someone. for example wolfwood could say my hair is messed up and i'd say fuck you nick go die. "fuck off" is a way of telling someone to go away rudely but it can be used in a playful way too, again depends on the context. you wouldn't say "fuck off" to someone you don't know unless you never want them to talk to you again.
"fuck it" is what you say before going balls to the wall off your rocker and doing some crazy shit.
"fucking" is the verb version of fuck. it's kind of used as a filler word. i usually say something like "that flower is so fucking cool" and it's a way to strengthen the word after it. "i fucking love ezell" or "i'm fucking hungry" etc. also used for sex again, like saying "yeah i'm fucking that guy tonight".
"fuckery" is more like trickery or schemes or something not being quite right, i guess. if someone says "there's fuckery afoot" it usually means someone is up to some tricks. when the forest does its thing there's fuckery afoot. we hate that guy.
"motherfucker" is one you didn't include but that's also an insult. if i call someone a motherfucker i'm insulting them. i think the origin used to be literal actual incest but it lost meaning over the last hundred or two hundred or three hundred idk years. you can also call someone a motherfucker playfully. or sometimes when i drop something or cut myself etc it becomes an expression of shock like fuck can be.
i'm trying to think of other fuck variations but i think i got most of them lol
never be sorry
Oh, my stars. Thank you for such a thorough explanation! I am not a child, but I think I am starting to see the bigger picture. I have seen and heard this word so much while I have been here that I was wondering if I was missing something. I am happy to know that is not the case.
I take it that the word "sex/sexual intercourse" is another word/phrase for reproduction between humans? I have read the word "sex" in older texts, but it was usually used in conjunction with animals and wildlife.
then i'm NOT sorry. woe, descriptions of how to use fuck in a sentence be upon ye
and yeah you got it in one. its not always reproductive though sometimes it's for fun. we don't need to have that talk here. humans (and other such beings that aren't cookies but let's just lump them and call them all humans for the sake of the argument) are gross and nasty and that's about all you need to know in this case
very important addition-

To be honest, those words are... well, they're kind of like seasoning! They put them in their sentences to make them spicier! But not everyone needs super spicy food! In fact, i bet your cooking is just fine without it!
So don't feel like you have to add 'em in.
Uh. To your vocabulary, I mean.
Definitely spice your food. Please.

Still, I do appreciate this contribution! It helps me a lot.

Some people just think spicy words add more personality to what they have to say. Don't listen to 'em. It isn't true!
