ACT I —— the new 'ghost ' in the inn

Who: Phantom and anyone who'd respond
What: The inn has a (somewhat) new resident who's (actually) not a ghost. That new resident had, at last, made himself known to public.
When: Mid-February
Where: The inn
Warnings: Long text + Phantom-standard warnings, limited but not including to possible mentions/allusions of DID, depression, etc. Please check my permissions post in this journal for the full list.

The Inn, mid- to late-afternoon, OTA.

[ It's likely not the best place to stay in town due to the general uneasiness that the atmosphere of the place might (very likely) invoke, and the mysterious, heavy footsteps that could sometimes be heard resounding throughout the hallways at certain times of the day would very likely be a turn-off for most people.

...However, it was deserted. Phantom had spent enough time since his arrival some three weeks back (if his timekeeping is correct, since it was as a certain Liberi operator had told him, time passes by in a strange manner in the Grove; more like in the old, accursed castle rather than onboard the Rhodes Island landship) to observe that other residents seemed to preferred staying elsewhere, which was a huge plus for him. He did not mind the footsteps all that much (he was used to being disturbed by both the spirits of the dead and the VOICE in his head), and more importantly, the inn was warm, with an ever-burning fireplace. Additionally, the Shopkeeper wasn't a man of many words, fortunately for him, which means that he wasn't intimidated about getting food from him (before he brought them with him to the inn), unlike Rhodes Island and its noisy staff cafeteria.

In any case, the Feline had started settling down in the inn, which might explain the...strange, unsettling shadow that would sometimes flit in and around the place, even during daytime (or what passes as 'day' in Aldric's Grove, anyway).

If you're lucky (or unlucky), you might catch him there today, doing either:

a) poking around in the upper level, looking for an attic,
b) gently stroking a little plantanimal in a distant corner of the inn's lobby,
c) heading inside the inn using one of the windows after getting some food from the Shopkeeper, or
d) in the kitchen, trying to cook something. ]

Network post.

[ A mysterious user by the name of 'Phantom' had appeared in the netbooks' network, although those with sharp eyes might have noticed that it's been there ever since late January. The man behind it had simply and finally decided to make himself known.

His handwriting is an elegant cursive, classic but still readable. ]

...Good, ah, afternoon, I suppose — or early evening. This is operator Phantom speaking, or just 'Phantom' would be fine, for those of you who are not of Rhodes Island. Operators Gnosis and Sesa has recently enlightened me on the situation, and seeing that there are a couple of us here...I thought I should make myself known. Perhaps. Uh, The Doctor would have wanted me to do this.

In any case, I am a Specialist operator, experienced with special ops, covert ops, and anything that requires fast execution and mobility. My expertise might come in handy in the coming days; at the very least, I wish to be of use to...my fellow operators and other people here.

That matter aside...might I ask if the inn has an attic? I am not, as a matter of fact, er...asking for a friend, as I do not have one, unless the...the spirits count.

...I am also curious about this settlement, this 'Aldric's Grove'. Is it permanently stuck in place — not moving, er, not a mobile town? I cannot seem to find any mechanism for its movement anywhere, although the forest might have obscured that, if the forest is included in this settlement's blueprint. In which case...the mechanisms might lie there or beyond it, out of reach. Gnosis had also told me that this isn't in Terra, so...I suppose Catastrophes did not exist here?

Erm, I should think that is all for now. ...Please refrain from disturbing me in the inn beyond what is necessary. Thank you.

[ This post was eventually struck out by the user. ]

inn (kitchen)

( felicity is another resident of the inn- but given how deeply reclusive she's been since her... return, it would be no wonder if the new arrivals barely saw her. with her distinct pink hair, it's possible phantom saw her at the ice castle exploring... or flinging magic with expert precision despite still adjusting to having only one arm against the enemies before frost claimed her.

or maybe he's seen her in the kitchen, as they meet now- she blinks in mild surprise that anyone else would be in here, and a little peach-like creature sits on her shoulder, almost blending in to her hair. she's quiet for a moment before she sighs softly.

thankfully, it's a big kitchen, so there's space enough for both of them. )

Are you looking for something? I use the kitchen the most, so. I know where everything is.

( at a glance, felicity does look like an ordinary human, yes. it's when you get her incensed that her true nature starts to show. she wishes she had the energy to maintain any masks, but since she woke up again in january she's only felt the exhaustion increase- the girl can't hide her growing unease under phantom's scrutiny.

to distract herself, she begins to rummage through the cabinet overhead for one of the kettles, up until he asks his question- )

Oh- uh. ... I know that Heimr provides a lot of the fresh food, but I'm not sure where he gets it, actually? Though Elsword did say he's working with a spirit.

( which is fascinating to think about- she should try and learn more. especially when this world's magic is still largely a mystery... )

For a long time there wasn't any wildlife at all, so maybe they'll turn up eventually.
