[There is some part of Vash that wants to hit back. It isn't that he wants to argue and win. He just wants the boy to take it seriously. Vash hadn't when he first arrived, and that had ended with both him and Wolfwood nearly dying. Hell, one could even argue that he still hadn't learned his lesson up to the weeks previous, considering how it had gone for him.
On the other hand, he doesn't want to discourage the kid either. There was always a chance that he (or his friends) could turn the tides on their situation. Or at least, that they were capable enough of keeping themselves safe.
He chews on the decision mentally for a moment, before giving a nod.]
You're right. I'm sorry! I shouldn't doubt people I don't know! [After a moment, he holds out his hand.] But I promise I'll keep an eye out. And I'll come find you if I see anyone around your age.
