"I can only imagine how difficult it must be hiding his condition while navigating other complications in the volatility of this world," he's careful not to bring attention to the bruise or to comment further on it. It's likely not the easiest of balancing acts being one's food resource while trying to manage one's own sustainability.

He'd come across Astarion's path here though at some point had lost track of him and he did seem to be doing as well as could be expected, but he hadn't experienced the full range of his moods here. He was, if nothing else, a consummate survivor, and now it was their turn.
