time is a concept, sometime around add leaving i guess???
Hello my friends, I am simply writing to note that with our Doctor missing, I will be taking over running the Clinic until such a time as he returns. Though I am unfamiliar with his instrumentation, I am a magic based healer and should be able to tend to your needs. Please do not hesitate to visit or contact me should you need anything.

Not in curing the incurable, at least. Our father lived with a chronic illness, as does our best friend's youngest brother. Their symptoms were (or are!) made more manageable with regular visits to a healer, but that is most of our healing magic's extent. Even a virus can be expelled by bolstering the body's own defenses, but magic and alchemy can no more alter a congenital condition than regenerate an amputated limb.
Ah, I've gotten a bit wordy! My apologies.
Though if you would like to discuss the matter further, I can share what I know, having observed but not administered much healing.

[ Yet. ]
No, do not apologize! I would hear what you have to say on the subject. Our magic can accomplish feats such as re-attaching a limb to a body again, but it requires someone incredibly skilled with intimate knowledge of the make up of our bodies. Meanwhile our healing takes it's energy from the Moon, and we bolster it by our care and devotion to those we heal. The stronger our love for what we are focused on, the more powerful our healing. Regenerating is another task, I fear, but perhaps not undoable.
Yet beyond bolstering a bodies natural energies to help it cure itself, we have not yet quite figured that out. We can expel poisons readily enough, but natural sicknesses...

As it was explained to me, so long as a healer is practiced enough to be familiar with the human body, they should be able to sense any abnormalities or foreign bodies upon examining a patient. This could mean anything from a natural blood clot to an invasive virus. Upon identifying the malady, if they possess adequate skill, energy, and such, the healer may be able to encourage the body to repair itself or to expel the invader. Neither are instant, of course, but a nudge in the right direction which may be repeated until curable ailments are resolved.

Fascinating. It is quite similar indeed, yet our methods are merely keeping the energy of the body up, so that it may fight on it's own without depleting it's resources. For things like common illnesses, we tend to use medicine herbs.
[ He is writing all this down, intrigued. ]
And you have come across incurable illnesses as well? They do not respond to the same method?

Now, medicinal herbs and minerals I am more familiar with! Not nearly an expert, mind you, but at least alchemy and medicine are learned rather than innate talents.
Well, the boy I mentioned, for instance, was born with the same illness of the blood that took his dear mother a few years later. His healer regularly treats him for pain, shortness of breath, and easing his bloodflow, but she cannot change the way his own body creates the bad blood, you see?

Oh yes, indeed! I have plans to turn the observatory in the school into a garden for medicinal herbs, if you would care to join me. Livio has also shown interest in learning.
[ Though he has not seen or heard from the man in a while and worry is sinking in. ]
I see... so an illness that is inherently part of the body is incurable, due to the body making the bad blood itself. You would need to alter the very composition of the body, but that has eluded your healers, and it is not surprising, it is no small feat.
[ He'll take a moment to stare off into the distance, thinking. Yet... he believes it can be done. It is like rebaking. ]
