PV told him not to waste the new body he got in exchange for his heart, and Fern is determined to make the most of it. At the same time, though, he doesn't have any real skills outside of adventuring, and since becoming Fern he doesn't seem to be very good at that, either. The only place in the Grove he's really familiar with is the greenhouse, but PV is there. He still feels like he's not really allowed in places where PV is.

But he heard there was a new greenhouse, and surely that's the perfect solution! He only ever sat and looked around in the first greenhouse, and despite being one himself he never really learned anything about plants or plant care, but it's the closest thing he has to an actual idea.

He doesn't really know what to do when he gets there. He waters the plants? He waters the plants.

Naturally, he can be found anywhere between there and the Inn.

Not the papers, the interviews. They never talk to anybody interesting.

[Fern is clearly not from his own time, but even so. Things can't be that different, can they?]

[ There's not a lot of centralization in Ooo in general, so there's not really an entertainment industry. Fern is also extremely ADHD.

He does finally need to refill his watering can though. ]

[On the plus side they're almost done with the plants around the edge. It shouldn't take them too long to take care of the middle either.]

Then who do they interview?

Boring people. Like, Breakfast Princess' butler, or business people, or King of Ooo that one time. That guy's a total wad.

Do all your royals have names like that?

Like Breakfast Princess.

Yeah? She's the princess of the Breakfast Kingdom. Why would you call her something else? That's rude.

[If it weren't for the apparent sincerity of the cookie people Min would definitely think Fern was kidding.

As it is, this definitely sounds more like Train weirdness than future weirdness.]

Of course not. If you're from before the Great Mushroom Wars, that's like a thousand years ago!

I don't know. It still seems like kinda a weird path for things to go down.

Why's that?

[ Is there something strange about having a Breakfast Kingdom? Or a Candy Kingdom? Or a Grocery Kingdom? ]

The Breakfast Kingdom sounds more like a diner or something than an actual place.

It's where the Breakfast People live. What else would you call it?

I don't know. I guess it fits. It's just not how things are named in my time.

That sounds weird to me. Like, what if you went to Fire Kingdom without a flame shield because it was called something like "Ferntopia"? [ copyright Fern ]

You'd die!

That's practical, but maybe too literal? I don't think it'd work.

Like I could get breakfast in Powell Lake, or I could get it in New York. I don't need to go to some whole other place for it.

There are Breakfast People that live in lakes?

What? No. There are no Breakfast People, and Powell Lake isn't in a lake. It's by one. That's my point. Things aren't broken up like that where I come from.

Why call it a lake if it isn't a lake? That's not a good name, that's just lying.

Names don't have to be literal.

It's not like you're a Fern, right?

You can't call a city a lake. It's dumb.

People called me 'Grass Finn' sometimes, but I don't like that. 'Fern' is better. It makes sense.

Why does that make sense?
