Clive has never actually made a portal to some demi-realm before, so he has no idea where to start. Except he guesses if it's going to be a door, he can craft a doorframe? It's... well, it sure is! And it's right in the middle of the Grove the best he can, so everyone can access it who needs to access it. It just needs a door or a portal or whatever, he doesn't know.

He does know that he's not a carpenter, and that the benefits of having a stone hand is you don't feel it when you inevitably knock your borrowed hammer into said hand. But he does his best to get it started so those with the experience for these things have some sort of framework for which to build on.

And other than that, he's mostly on patrol with Torgal for any snakes that may be trying to sneak in to interrupt things.

"A struggle to remember?"

There's curiosity in his voice and he thinks of the weird way that Loop's thoughts sort of went staticky, like his very soul blipped briefly, as he cast his wish for drink. Hm.

"It's something to do with the place Wish Craft came from. Something that can't be remembered. It causes a dreadful headache." She grimaces.

"We were talking about... runes, yes?"

FASCINATING. He stares at her as she grimaces, letting his vision prod lightly. Is it like a curse, or a connection to her universe back home.

Can it be reversed, removed. Memories returned? Hmm.

"Ah, yes, but don't worry right yet. Please, take a moment, regather yourself. Eat."

Command.

A connection to her home, certainly, but rather than something missing it's more like a wall. A rule, enforced by the Universe, that a certain place cannot be remembered or else the world will break. Things around that place are accessible, but not easily.

She rubs her temple again and sighs before picking up a cookie.

"Do tell me if I lose track of the conversation." Yes, she remembers now- "It happens to Siffrin and Loop fairly often."

"Ah... yes. I 'saw' something happen to Loop when they showed me their ability to drink through wish. He seemed to forget something midway."

He falls silent as he thinks, watching her rub her forehead as she picks up a cookie, nodding softly. Good, eat. He wonders if he can use the Other-Realm to touch upon it. "Do not worry, I will remind you."

She nods. That sounds like Siffrin, though she hasn't seen it happen to Loop yet.

She finishes the cookie, has a sip of her tea, and sighs.

"I apologize. I should be more cautious pursuing such studies."

"Hm? Oh, no. Do not worry, my friend. I don't think you will suffer too much with learning this magic. It never affected us in such a way."

Especially Not if he has any say over it. He pillows his hands back into his lap and smiles. "Knowledge should be shared, after all. It empowers everyone, helps them learn, and make their own paths in life."

"Right." She more meant that she should be careful where she lets her mind wander, so she doesn't lose track of her train of thought. That doesn't matter, though.

"These 'runes'... Do they define the full range of magic potential? Or is it possible that there are others that haven't been discovered yet?"

"If there are, they're runes older than the Witches themselves. Everything we know, we know from the Witches, but there was the world before Witches," he muses, nodding gently. "The Cosmos. We don't know if the Witches were born with their magic, or studied it, however."

"Too bad," she notes. If she was learning magic from another species, she would have asked those kinds of questions. Then again, perhaps the Witches simply refused to answer.

"If they're a fundamental part of the world, and not simply fabricated, can they be considered old? That seems like calling the sky old."

"Mm, these are questions I can't answer, as despite my age, I was not around when the First Witches were." There is one here who was but... his relationship with the First Witches is vile and asking him about them might set him off. He twirls a bit of his hair around his finger in thought.

"I'm afraid asking him about it might be touchy, but if you avoid mentioning the Witches, he might be quite willing to discuss it with you. Teaching is his passion."

"There's no need," she assures him, taking another sip of her tea.

"It's only an idle curiosity. It's hardly practical to study the theoretical origin of runes when I have yet to understand their proper use."
