Really, the only wedding I have been to was the one that Sesa and Passenger held, and that seemed more rooted in their personal culture than anything we might share.

But no, you do not have to bring your own food. Most people hire a caterer. You, however, have a good friend with a bar that is happy to supply whatever you decide will be on the menu
