[Even if they were not very at peace anymore. Now that he's further away from them, he can't help the pang of anger that surges through him. How dare their memory be so desecrated by a place like this? It sickens him.]
It feels not unlike the arts a flesh eating creature I once encountered would use. The Lower Moon we encountered sent us into our dreams in order to pick us off while we were vulnerable. The only difference is that those were pleasant dreams.
[For the time being, at least. He has no doubt they would have shifted dramatically, if he had lingered any longer.]
Ah, yes! The twelve kizuki were separated into two separate categories — upper and lower moons. Lower moon, as you might expect, were powerful enough to have status, but significantly weaker than their upper moon counterparts.]
The water has changed for you?
[He can't recall having seen the changes himself.]
Oh, I get it, so the lower the number the more dangerous they are.
[ He averts his eyes for a moment at the question, though ]
... You remember I mentioned ending up somewhere between here and my home, right? Well... when I arrived there, it was in an island settled in the middle of a blood ocean. So all the water here... seems to turn to blood when I get near it. Or I assume that's why.
[He takes a deep breath after Aira speaks and — now that he's really focusing on the scent, practically recoils. The smell of sake has only grown stronger over the past few minutes, it seems. Or perhaps he'd been so lost in his thoughts that he had simply forgotten about it.]
I think this place is impacting us on more than one level, Aira. Your water turns to blood, and I have smelled nothing but liquor since the fog descended on this place.
[ Kyojuro's response to merely taking a breath is akin to a cat smelling something it doesn't like, and it concerns him up until he explains. It seems like the place is changing itself to be more uncomfortable for those inside for one reason or another ]
Liquor...
[ He'll not ask, but the concern lingers ]
It's like it's going out of it's way to use things that scare or upset us, but why...
If it were a demon we were dealing with, I would suggest that it was feeding off of our discomfort. Or at least considered it an appetizer.
[And in many ways, the enemies of this world did function like the demons of his home. The problem is that the meal never seemed to be the end goal. Suffering alone seemed to make the beasts more content. And right now? He doesn't exactly know how to contend with that.]
[ Given the entity's track record, a game unfortunately tracks. ]
A few months ago we were used as puppets to play out horrible points in our lives, so I can't say it doing this for fun is out of character. I can't be sure though...
[The distaste is clear. The puppetry had been on full display with Kyojuro's own monsters, hadn't it? It only serves to make him all the more nauseous.]
All the more reason to not give in. No doubt losing this game will only fuel whatever pushes that creature onward.
[ He's not sure that not giving in would make a difference. He gets his kicks from torturing them, so really, them trying probably makes it more fun. He's not going to say as much though, it's a pretty depressing line of thought. ]
Well, We're still here despite what's happened so far. We can find a way out. Did Akaza-san come along, or not..? We might be able to meet up with him if he did.
[Kyojuro doesn't even try to hide the way his face falls. He glances out toward the fog, chewing on the inside of his cheek for a long moment. His right hand covers the left, tugging idly at the bloody bandage wrapped around it.]
We were separated some time ago. [Concern lines his face, but he does not vocalize it.] He has handled worse, I am certain. He will survive this.
[He does want to. If this place has already pulled monsters from Kyojuro's own mind, then surely it will do the same to Akaza sooner or later. Given how he'd reacted to the woman beneath the circus... It seems not entirely unreasonable to be concerned oer his well-being.
But he had a duty. A promise to uphold. He would protect those weaker than him. Right now, Aira falls into that category more than Akaza does.]
No, no. He would be quite upset if I dragged you through additional danger to seek him out. We should find you a place to take refuge, instead.
Kyojuro doesn't have to say it for Aira to hear it loud and clear. It still curls uncomfortably in his heart and weighs it down.
He squeezes his eyes shut. It's fine. It's for the best. Akaza will probably fight better without either of them distracting him as it is. Kyojuro is injured, he should be getting out of here too. ]
You need rest too... If we find a way out, maybe we can stay near the outskirts and wait for him?
[It's the furthest thing from what he means, but without insight into Aira's mind, Kyojuro can do nothing to dispute it. Though he might have the slightest hint that his word s were not well received bassed solely off of Aira's expression, there still isn't much he can say.]
You are right. [All he can really do is offer a gentle smile, a careful pat on the back.] We will keep moving , at least until the sun begins to set, then we will find somewhere to rest.
[And if he can find a somewhere for Aira to stay long term, to remain safe while the rest of the monsters were purged, all the better.]

[ That's how it sounded from how it was used at least. A lot of this stuff went right over his head admittedly, but he was trying. ]
These... are definitely not pleasant. Even the water's been changing just to scare me.

[Kyojuro winces at the very thought. Not only does it seem like an unpleasant sight but...]
I have not seen such a phenomenon. [He pauses, hesitant to bring up his own issues.] What does the air smell like to you right now, Aira?

[ But that thought is promptly derailed by the question he's asked. ]
Maybe a bit like blood, but nothing really of note otherwise...
[ His head tilts as though to ask why, but seems to catch that its insensitive to ask before he voices it. ]

Perhaps it is all meant to be a game of sorts.
