I would like to celebrate something with all of you, if that's okay? Come to the center of town for a feast~! I've got all sorts of assorted treats and goodies. You can bring your own costumes, but if not, that's okay! I have a box of them here that you can try on yourself!!!

II. Party!

In the middle of town, by the well, it's hard to miss the festive decor. There's string lights and candles and red leaves all meticulously placed, as well as tables set up with an absolutely absurd amount of food. Pies, homemade candy, spooky-themed sandwiches, soups inside of cauldrons, and the biggest bowl of saltwater taffy you've ever seen.

Mizuki is here, dressed up as a little ghost, and bouncing around to make sure the little finishing touches to things are done. There's "spooky", fun music playing from the phone he has set on the table by the food. And, as he's stated, there's a box filled with costumes. They're mostly silly, and there's quite a lot of them. More than it seems like is able to fit in a box this size, actually? How strange. Maybe it's some kind of enchantment? Well, whatever, you can surely find one in here that will suit you. Mizuki seems to scoot you towards it if you don't dress up, so...

Mizuki also has various games set up, too.

There's a stack of cards with your standard icebreaker questions listed, which Mizuki likely got out of a speed dating book, as well as some... philosophy ones thrown in there, too?? Confusing. Thanks, Mizuki. Anyway, apparently you're supposed to strike up a conversation with one of these.

As well as that, there's a table with a spoon, marshmallows (all painted with chocolate syrup to have spooky ghost faces), two empty bowls, an hourglass and instructions. "Compete against someone! Put the small end of the spoon between your teeth and only using the spoon (so no hands!) try to pick up the marshmallows and put them in the bowl. Whoever has the most marshmallows in the bowl by the time the hourglass finishes, wins!"

There is also a jar. Next to it is a stack of paper, and instructions on how to fold the paper into a star. The jar is labeled "Wishes" and there will at least be one star by the time you find yourself at the table.

Tex shows up at the party, figures out costumes seem to be expected, and dips for a little while to rustle something up—that's more her style than going through the provided chest. She is tempted to just wear the uniform she'd shown up in when she arrived here, but assumes that's kind of cheating, so she goes through the closets at the wrecked house she found when she arrived until she finds a pair of blue pants, a blue collarless shirt, and a pair of black gloves, her approximation of a character from an old video game she has memories of playing. It's not perfect, and she doesn't have a gun, but it'll do.

Tex approaches the table and sees the bowl of stars. "Wishes, huh?" She thinks for a moment, moving her hand as if about to reach for a pen. "What are you doing with these after we write them?"

II. (OTA)

Up until now Tex hasn't done much to try to settle in or befriend many people, but her practice sessions with Kyojuro have helped her become more used to the fact that she's stuck here. She grabs a few of the question cards and a plateful of food and begins to make her way among the crowd. She pages through the cards and raises an eyebrow, then turns to the next person who approaches her.

"You into these cards?"

III. (OTA)

Tex is nothing if not competitive. So eventually she decides to take part in the marshmallow game. She approaches the table again and glances at whoever's walked up to compete against her.

"You ready to fail?"

This from a woman who's only had a human body for two months.

[ Mizuki gives Tex a smile, pulling out his phone to "speak" with her by tapping on the screen for a moment before showing the screen for her to read. ]

Where I'm from, for the wishes to come true, you close the jar up tight and toss it out to the water and let the waves take it away. I visit the beach every month to read stories to the Cosmic Serpent, so I'll be taking the jar with me to send it out into the water then.

It's just tradition.

[ Tex nods briefly, then pauses to think. ]

Guess there isn't any point in wishing to go home in those wishes, huh?

[ She reaches for the pen and one of the slips of paper and waits to see if Mizuki intends to respond before bending to write. ]

[Vildred spends the first like, thirty minutes of this party dressed as a sheet ghost before he realises he can't fucking see, so if you watch him walk into walls... no you don't be nice to him.

Anyway, he'll change into a classic vampire outfit later, with the suit and ascot and cape and all that. This is better. He'll fill out a wish real quick, then proceed over to the icebreaker questions to bother you. Hi.]

"What's the most reckless thing you've ever done?" ...well?

[Min-Gi definitely spent way too long picking what is ultimately a pretty basic costume out of the box. Ryan helped paint on his stitches, but the rest was easy enough to just throw on.

He had not been standing near the icebreaker questions to answer icebreaker questions, but here we are.]

I guess dropping out of uni so I could play with Ryan.

[It's gone okay, but it had been a big risk.]

[Wow, that's what normal folk consider reckless... Vildred is learning.]

Did it go well, at least? It's not something you regret, right?

[He sure hopes not, those two are clearly besties and nothing more than that obviously—]

[Obviously not as far as anyone outside of Min, Ryan, and absolutely nobody else in the Grove is concerned...]

No way. It's the best decision I ever made.

[Whether it went well or not is debatable. It's still too soon to really know what direction their career will take, but Min's sure that even if it ultimately fizzles out he wouldn't regret the choice.]

FRIGHT NIGHT

[A certain feline has got into the spirit of the night. Deep inside the box of costumes she waits, hidden cosily beneath the props and fabric. She's quite happy there, but not as happy as when she feels a rustle about her head indicating that someone is picking out a costume. She crouches, wriggling her rear end for a split second before Cy launches herself out of the box, paws raised high.]

Boo!

WISHING STARS

[The jar is an endless source of fascination for Cy. For once, she makes no attempt to eat it despite the stars and unused paper being right there. She does dip her paw lightly into the jar, but is delicate and careful not to upset its contents. She even spills a few pale motes from her mouth, the little lights surrounding the jar and giving it an extra atmosphere.

When anyone comes near she jumps from the table, dancing around their feet regardless of whether they intend to share their wishes with the jar or not.]

[She sings the ryhme, batting at the ankles of whoever she has apprehended, trying to lure them towards the table.]

I almost grabbed you thinking you were a plushie, not a real cat. [Wheeze. He can't actually be that mad though, Cy is cute and cats are cute and one can never stay mad at a cat for long.]

SCARY MONSTERS

[Min-Gi spends maybe too much time deciding a Frankenstein's monster costume, followed by an awkward few minutes in the corner where Ryan paints the stitches onto his head and neck. He comes away from that looking pretty red in the face.

He actually retreats outside of the area set up for them for a little while after that, bringing with him some kind of spooky green drink to occupy himself.]

[Later, he can be found rifling through the icebreaker questions with a slightly perplexed expression. There's plenty here that he'd expect to find on cards like these, but just as many that are throwing him.]

[Astrid has showed up in what appears to be a grey cat kigurumi because he's sooooo funny like that, his own ears and tail artfully hidden in the ears and tail of the outfit — but, the zipper in the front is left slightly unzipped to give a good bit of chest reveal, because he's a very sexy cat, see. you understand the vision, surely. he even painted on whiskers and a little nose!]

[he's not super sure what he wants to do at the party, so he grabs a drink and an icebreaker card, sliding up to the nearest person to innocently whip out:]

[he stares at the paper for wishes for a long time before he finally settles on what he wants to write, angling himself so no one could see what he's writing — it felt a little bit embarrassing, writing down something that was truly heartfelt. however, he seems to be having a bit of trouble successfully folding it into a star, brow scrunched and lips a bit pouty as he folds and refolds his wish.]

[ Zoey, having grown up in America, is all about Halloween. And a Halloween party is just what she needs right now! Even better that costumes have been supplied. After rifling through the box for a moment, she decides on a full-body sea turtle costume. It might not be scary, but it's cute!

The flippers make it a bit hard to grab anything, though. But she's doing her best with these cards! She's holding this one for dear life. ]

Ooh, here's a good one! What's the most adventurous thing you've ever done?

[He's already given out this answer to what was technically a different question, but it's not his fault they add up to the same thing.]

Dropping uni so I could go on tour with Ryan.

Oh, mood. Going on tour knocks you out of so much! That's a real tough decision to make, and totally adventurous!

[ She has been on tour off and on for the past few years, and it made her miss out on so many things. Thankfully, the internet exists, and she can catch up! Sometimes. ]

In the end? Not really. I didn't want to go anyway.

[They still don't really have any way of figuring out whether or not it'll pay off, but in the end the choice had been an easy one.

Technically it's probably Zoey's turn to answer a question, but the question is a tricky enough one to answer he doesn't think to use that as a way to get out of it. Not because he doesn't know the answer, but because exactly how to phrase it without sounding crazy is kind of tough.]

Ryan and I ended up on this weird wormhole train. Our guide was a little too good at making enemies, so it felt like pretty much everyone wanted to kill us.

[joining in on a Witch's Feast party seems like a rather unwise thing to do, for a Cookie. but Elder Faerie has to remember that he is no longer a Cookie here. he is human-shaped. so, if he does see a Witch, perhaps They won't know what he is. he's hoping.

when he gets to the party, however, he finds that it is simply full of people he's seen around the Grove, and he feels relieved. he's already got elongated long ears and wings, but he was told to pick a costume, so he finds a set of grey cat ears, and a very fluffy tail??? and puts those on. why not? he'll be a fairy cat, or something.

he also takes to the philosophy books instead of the icebreaker questions. but feel free to chat with him. he's watching the mingle, but may be enticed into playing games or make wishes!]

[Elder Faerie is also being watched, by the very kind of creature he's decided to dress himself as. She looks at him skeptically, eventually speaking up.]

What are you supposed to be?

[it takes him a moment to find where the source of the voice is coming from. he glances up from his book and looks around.

Ah, hello, there. I suppose I am dressed up as a cat.

[ Mizuki types on his phone’s notepad for a moment before he flips the screen around to show to Elder Fairie. It takes him a moment, since his ghost costume doesn’t allow for his hands to be free, but… ]

Thank you for coming!!! I haven’t seen you around before, either, so I extra appreciate it. I’m Mizuki! Nice to meet you!

[hmm? grandpa Elder Faerie peers at the notepad and then smiles. he lifts his head up to the "ghost"]
