Is it just repeating the same thing? As far as I know, they can only say a few things they've heard, so knowing what it might have heard you say can point me in the right direction.

It'll look like an older teen or young adult and have purple hair and blue eyes.

It's calling for help, or asking for people by name.

I tried to handle it but no one's willing to loan me a gun yet.

I'm a very fast learner and I have perfect aim.

And I'm very good at killing my doubles.

Not exactly? The threat seems to change semi-monthly. Its hard to tell how much time passes here. But one autumn we were attacked by doppelgangers. They'd try to kill us and take our place, but weren't very good at it.

Time doesn't really mean too much to me anyway, so I can deal with that.

Well, it doesn't seem like these things want to take anyone's place, just lure people out to do... I'm not really sure what. But I'll see if I can find the one you're talking about.

dont want to be the reason someone else dies.

If I die, it's because I chose to go out there. Don't put that on your conscience.

Have you observed any sounds that might draw their attention? I wonder whether employing their own tactics might yield results.

They're very much predators in every way. The first encounter, they relied on the crunch of the snow, my breathing, and my steps. Since they seem to be burrowers, I imagine they were able to track me from below as well, and I only was able to escape after I was no longer a viable target- when I was infected with the disease they carry.

The second encounter was much more foolish on my part. They mimicked my closest friend from home. I was not quiet.

I don't know how they got her voice.

I can't tell if those lights of theirs are eyes or not, so I haven't tried visual distractions but sound will definitely lure them anywhere we want. And where we don't want.

It killed me. I resurrected in the inn some days later in an unclaimed room. It sucked.

But if you need information, I can give it. I think had I been able to get to safety in time, it could have been helped.
