[Half of the Order are kids and always have been, but Timothy is an especially egregious case. That is a child. A baby. So was he, but at least he was moulded for it, and not a little kid in an orphanage that just so happened to be picked for the role.]

God has a plan for someone important to me, let's say, and that plan is a heinous fucking thing. But when I interfere with it to try to stop it, I'm the one punished instead. [Kanda stares down at the hidden marks on his arm. Glowers at them.] You'd think He wouldn't let His children die, if He actually cared, wouldn't you?

Now normally...normally, Wolfwood is completely unwilling to talk about this sort of thing with anyone, but especially people he doesn't know. Especially this guy, with how prickly he was when they first met. But...this is a confessional, and confidentiality is a two way street.

If Kanda spills anything he says here to anyone else, he'll just come find and kill him. So.]

Oh great. So it doesn't matter what world the jackass oversees, he's just picking up nine year olds and sending them right to war.

[There's a dull thud as Wolfwood drops his head against the back wall of the Confessional, looking up towards the ceiling.]

[He bonks his head back against the confessional wall with an audible thunk.]

What else do you have? [He asks, his arms crossed.] Sole survivor like me? Killed someone you care for? Rapid regeneration that'll kill you one day?

[There's a silence that sits heavy between them for a few moments as Wolfwood weighs how he wants to reply, having already smoked his cigarette down to the butt at this point.]

I wish I was the only one.

[Is how he chooses to answer the first question, his gaze centered on his ash-stained fingertips.]

I got a glimpse into my future. I'm gonna overdose on the serum that heals my wounds, and it's gonna kill me. Dunno when, exactly, but probably pretty soon.

I always figured I'd die young, so it didn't come as that big of a surprise.

[Sobering. Kanda bites his tongue, wondering how you'd even respond to something like that. How someone's supposed to say "sorry that sucks" or whatever without sounding like a dick about it, or fake. More silence follows, because Kanda is not good at talking and never ever will be.]

...Here? Or where you're from? You're clearly not stupid, and I don't need to tell you that the solution is obvious, right? Don't drink the fucking serum, don't get in that fight that kills you, or don't walk underneath the bridge that collapses to crush you. If you know the future, you can fight against it.

Well now, if it were that easy, I wouldn't be worried about it, would I?

[The sigh he exhales on the other end is audible, the heel of his shoe tapping against the floor.]

No, what's gonna happen is I'm gonna be near-death and have no choice but to use 'em. If I don't, I die. So I use 'em, finish whatever fight I'm fightin', and then I die. And the people who are gonna start that fight are gonna bring it to me whether I wanna be involved or not.

[But what an ass situation. Kanda has no idea how he'll turn out; he doesn't know if he'll make it back to the Order, if he'll Fall or not, if he'll be fine and manage to save Allen or if it's hopeless and his last goodbye back home was him saying fucking nothing like an idiot because he knew if he did, he'd want to stay.

They're far from joined at the hip, but if it had been up to him in that moment, they surely would've been.]

Then I won't speculate. [Not his thing, not his theoreticals to entertain.] What I wouldn't have given for that sort of foresight, though.

It sounds good on paper, but trust me, that kinda shit...gets to you. Like yeah, we're all gonna die someday, whatever. But havin' that kinda exact knowledge fucks with you.

[He can't explain it. All he knows is he's just glad he's here, and not there.]
