[So, you know. Jot that down.]
...let's try a different one.
You talked about "fate". I don't really believe in that. People like to use the word "fate" when somethin' happens they don't know how to explain. Turns out, a lot of the shit that happens in the world is unexplainable, and seems insane or completely random. Unfair...cruel.
But if you ask me, some of us are just unlucky, and people are nasty motherfuckers. God don't got nothin' to do with that.

That I will kill someone I care about. That I will bring end to the Holy War. That I will cease to exist. That there’s no use trying to change any of that — it’s my “fate”.
…
But I don’t think that’s true. I think waiting for fate it’s stupid. Why would I not fight against it? It can’t be absolute. I’ll find a way to break it.

Listen. No matter what people tell you, or how convincing they sound, you've always got a choice. I don't care if it's your "destiny" or whatever.
[Wolfwood grimaces, then he sits closer to the dividing wall between them.]
I'm stuck in the situation I'm in 'cause I made the choice to be in it. Don't mean it's any less shitty, but. It's still my choice. You can't let anybody take that from you.

…What’s your situation?

He sighs, rubbing the bridge of his nose.]
...you sure you wanna know? This confession's for you, not me.

...
Should we swap sides? [ Allen- ]

Wolfwood sighs, an old familiar sensation of dread washing over him.]
I was taken by a cult when I was a kid. They raised me to do their dirty work. Get rid of people they need to disappear. And since I was small and didn't know better, they were able to experiment with me as much as they wanted.
[...]
I stay so they don't take other kids to replace me.

...That's awful. Did... did they threaten to do that if you left, or...? Does your world not have laws or enforcement to... protect children like that?

[Even though they're absolutely fucking useless at their jobs, in his opinion.]
The cult is real hush-hush about it's activities. And they got ways of keepin' people in the know from talkin'. They had me under contract.
[Do our bidding, we don't kill all the children. Deal.]
