03 ⸸⸸ NETBOOK

Who: livio and YOU
What: new guardian info!!
When: few days after the race
Where: netbook
Warnings: unsure, will warn if they come up

[straight to the point as usual, he doesn't bother with formalities or introductions. anyone who's been here a while will recognize his weirdly perfect handwriting.]

I talked to the River Guardian and the big lizard in the river. The River Guardian's name is Sinann. The lizard is called The Behemoth.

The Behemoth said she's a daughter of Callan, the Lake Guardian. Callan isn't fond of humans, so we should be careful of him. The lake is her home, too, so it would be good if we can help her get back through to it somehow.

She isn't strictly allies with the false god, but will ultimately side with whoever is better for the forest. It would be best if we treat her and the uncorrupted nature with respect. She suggested we plant things in or by the river that will make good food for fish. She likes meat. I'm going to see about building her a shrine.

[...]

Also, please don't try to catch her.

If anyone has anything to add, or more information, please do so.

You were able to speak to them? Truly??

I didn't think the bone ring worked on creatures such as them...unless you had some other method?

I can't say that surprises me. Seafaring deities rarely get along with humans. [ Said an emissary for one of said seafaring deities— ] It's a kinda concerning pattern between worlds I've noticed.

Oh, sorry, did it sound like I was disagreeing with you there? I wasn't. Quite the opposite — I firmly believe coexisting with them is not only possible, but very achievable. Especially if they're not corrupted.

When Moder was corrupted, negotiating with her was almost like she wasn't hearing what I was saying — like the forest was only letting her hear what it wanted her to. But at least here, it sounds like a diplomatic approach isn't unreasonable.

We could give that a go?

I ate her.

Then she "respawned" in the forest 'cause she's a strong Guardian and had the will to do so and I got all the evil out of her! So I went back into the forest and called for her and she came and we got her back to the Grove.

crying I'm so sorry Livio--

You could ask, though I'm not really sure I have a good answer. I'm pretty much always hungry, no matter how much I eat.

How I… ate her? Or how I called for her?

[ Look, it's fine. That's his mom and he loves her very much and they're chill even if she is aware she got cannibalized— ]

Oh, I understand. It's something I can just… do? Bishop Cicero from my church taught me a great many things. Experiencing the good in the world and making it a part of yourself, for starters, but also expelling evil from oneself. Though, in order to expel evil from oneself, the thing you're trying to expel evil from has to be a part of you to begin with, so I usually eat most of the people my commander deems "evil". So I eat them, usually.

...So Callan was the name of that particularly infuriating Guardian. Thank you.

I see...well, regardless of how, I'm glad you were able to learn something from it. I suppose this means any of us could speak with them, if we so desired.

River reeds, certain mosses, floaters, and duckweed should be helpful to provide safety and spawning grounds in the roots for fish. Floaters should also attract insects, which in turn will be good food. These things can be readily traded for with medallions, yes?

[Someone gonna roll up his sleeves and go river wading.]

[ No, it's more like the Lake Guardian antagonised him. He is the victim here.

...Though honestly, Phantom isn't antagonising him as much as he is simply expressing that this particular Guardian is, as a matter of fact, infuriating. ]

We did. I went to the lake's edge after I dug around for a bit in the graveyard nearby.

Unfortunately, I cannot say I'd learnt anything from him. He simply confirms that he is the lake's Guardian, and that 'one of the human-creatures here or others must have known my name'. He chided me for not knowing his name from the get-go, makes fun of and laughs at me, and even growls at me threateningly. What a pick me excuse of a Guardian.

There is also a sleeping dragon on the graveyard. I assume those massive bones belongs to this dragon.
