[ One would think that Joshua would be used to everyone around him being concerned about his health by now, but somehow, it still takes him by surprise on occasion. His eyebrows raise, but he's quick to shake his head. ]
Ah, no. It will not. The boons I received from the dragons are meant to bridge the gaps, so to speak, so that I am able to still do certain things without detriment to myself.
[ He stretches his wings out behind him. Fully capable of flight, and he's had experience with it before. ]
I should easily be able to carry you and fly at the same time. I promise that it will not be an issue.
[Abruptly, Luca realizes what a fool he had been. In his minds eye, he had pictured Joshua transforming into the Phoenix. Why would he need to, when he had his own wings to bear them to safety.
Resisting the urge to shake his head at his own foolishness, he instead gives a nod to Joshua. Uncomfortable though it might wind up being, dangling above the trees, it would surely keep them from stumbling any further into the brand.]
Better that we be out of here sooner, rather than later.
[ If Joshua was aware of Luca's train of thought, he might have introduced him to the smaller and less cargo-oriented Phoenix form. Which will happen eventually, but not today!
Instead, Joshua smiles, stepping forward. ]
I suppose the easiest way to carry you would be... in my arms, perhaps? Or if you don't mind embracing me, I could carry you that way as well. Whichever is more comfortable for you.
[Luca makes a face. Neither option sounds particularly graceful. He can only imagine the looks they'll get when they make it back to town. But the alternative is walking and potentially stumbling into another trap. That makes the humiliation all the more palatable.]
I suppose if it is up to me...
[He shuffles over to Joshua and... loosely wraps his arms around those shoulders. He'll tighten his grip once he needs to, but for now he shoots the other man a quizzical look.]
[ Well, it works! Hopefully. Joshua nods, wrapping his arms around Luca for added support. If he just leaves Luca to dangle from his shoulders, it will be uncomfortable for both of them, and may just lead them to crashing. ]
This is fine. I will do my best to support you, but feel free to hold on however might be more secure for you once we begin to move.
[ He gives Luca a moment to adjust however he needs to, and then stretches his wings out behind him. ]
Hold on tightly.
[ And with a few flaps of his wings and a push off of the ground, they ascend into the sky. He has seen the brand in the trees, so he is doing his best to avoid those. ]
[The second he's urged to do so, Luca's grip tightens. He sucks in a breath as they leave the ground, willing them to stay airborne and avoid the brand. As they move higher up, Luca swears that his stomach is left behind. He's never been scared of heights before, but he's also never dangled from someone else like this.]
Just... Don't look down, I suppose. [He laughs without humor.] Or perhaps you should be saying that to me?
[And yet despite his advice, Luca does indeed look down. Terrible mistake. Bad bad bad.]

Beasts don't let us crash, please.
