Yeah, well. If I try to explain I don't think you're gonna believe me, anyway.
[Because so far, well...it's not so easy to try to convince people that someone they never remembered was there in the first place was actually, you know. There!!]
[Unfortunately Add joined up with the party while Ain was lightballed, so uh. He sure does not, and his expression says as much, an irritated twitch in his brow. Motherfucker he just said—]
How would I remember someone who hasn't been here before?
[Soon enough, though, the two A named boys are going to go toe to toe in front of God, Wolfwood, and everyone. Or, well, most of the party is moving ahead because Hey Yeah The Temple, so it's becoming a walk and talk scenario. Wolfwood can hang back where he pleases; Ain walks along after Elsword, swinging his pendulum between his fingers, while Add floats along on Dynamo.
There's a quiet hiss between them, but to Wolfwood who's Not Really Here but Here, he'll get to listen in regardless. These are Ain's memories, after all.]
What exactly are you supposed to be? Those guys didn't even remember you... Then you showed up out of nowhere and slipped right in, as if you have known them all along.
[Ain smiles. It's dry and sarcastic and bitchy, in a way Wolfwood will surely recognize by this point.]
...Let me make a suggestion. I know you don't belong to this timeline. You are probably from... a long time ago. I'm not sure how you did it, but it doesn't matter. I really don't care what you are trying to do. And I'll never be interested. So why don't you offer me the same courtesy?
So just shut up and mind my own business?
Very good, Mr. Ancient.
[The boys... are fighting. Kind of. Add looks weirdly pale, and Ain is clearly riding that high.]
[Wolfwood walks along, not invested in their goal the same way the people who actually lived this are, because he's more focused on the conversation that Add and Ain are having that he can overhear. And boy oh boy, it's blackmail time! Wolfwood nearly laughs aloud when he hears it. Granted, he feels like he lacks a lot of context for Add's situation, but in the end it matters less what's going on as much as how Ain is reacting to it. The girls are fightinggggg.
He keeps his mouth shut, for now. He'll wait until Ain steps ahead and Add is by himself again before he speaks again.]
[Checks the website. There is no rating. Based on the amount of times Ain says "demon bastards" I'm going to go with Teen because I know you can get away with calling someone a bastard in Teen games but you super cannot get away with calling them a bitch-ass motherfucker like I think they should let Add do, so.]
Tch. Yeah, so what's the deal? Why are you immune, and they're not?
[He's jabbing his finger forward, nebulously at Elsword's back. That Bitch Right There Officer. That one Friendship Beamed him.]
[Honestly, Add should be allowed to say this. Let Add say fuck.
But also uhhhh how does he answer this...]
Let's just say we got a complicated history.
[He knows that's just going to make Add inquire further, so he continues, shoving his hands into his pockets.]
I don't really know though, if I'm honest. [That's halfway true, at least.] I don't think Ain likes to think about it either way, so him usin' blackmail to keep you quiet doesn't surprise me.
[Wolfwood smirks, glancing at Add out of the corner of his eye.]
Calm down, I ain't gonna go round spreadin' your precious secret. Dunno why you and Ain think this group would care so much, anyway. S'like yall ain't met Elsword before.
[That's so true bestie, unfortunately Add thinks they would Very Care and refuses to tell anyone anything. If he said "yeah I could go into the past and save my mom from being fucking murdered but I have no idea how to do that", Elsword would drop everything and be like "guys we have to go save Add's mom from being murdered". Same vein as "Ain would say he's an angel and the group would be like yeah cool when are we killing the bigbad tho".
Unfortunately, neither of these two morons can bring themselves to think for five seconds, so here we are.
And though Wolfwood will be faced both with Add's deep sense of paranoia & fear of ghosts, as well as Ain's usual mouthiness... unfortunately that's all going to come in more flashes again. They'll deal with Hamel's problems in something of a montage sequence. They'll head off to Sander, which Wolfwood will note is very much like No Man's if No Man's had an oasis in the middle of any town at all. They'll physically enter a holy beast and beat a demon out of it, because that's very normal and happens to every adventuring party obviously. They'll go to Lanox, which is somehow even hotter than Sander is on account of the fact the actual city is built into a volcano and there's very much lava running through canals in the streets, and meet Lu and Ciel. Wolfwood will get a brief moment where he gets to have the best goddamn tea and cookies of his life (like sorry Gnosis but your tea skills do not hold a candle to Ciel's) before the memories go back to being montage-y.
Also he'll get to hear Ain be Extremely Racist for the next two years. It's fine, don't worry about it.
Eventually, the party is in a city in the sky — Elysion, where a whole lot of angelic Nasods with feathers live. Eve's creator is here, and her code allows her to bypass what would otherwise surely be a hellish city to get into. From here, there's a way to enter and restore the El, and Ain...
Ain, despite this being his mission, looks none to happy about this.]
[It really feels a little disorienting to go through so much time in such a short span, but the fact it feels almost like a dream helps a little with the disconnect. Like sure, makes sense that one second they're in Hamel, next they're in Lanox, etc etc. Traveling with this group is quite the contrast to traveling with Vash and the others, though...Wolfwood was probably feeling similarly to how Ain feels right now, at the time. Like he's lying to the group about something (he was) and felt bad about it (he did) and knew it was going to come to a head eventually (it also did!).
So now they're here, in Elysion, and Wolfwood knows Ain well enough to be able to tell that he's uneasy. So, if at any point he can catch up with Ain and sort of separate him from the rest of the direct group, he'll ask in an undertone:]
[While everyone else pulls ahead to talk about what the hell they're gonna do... they're so close, they're almost there, then they can be done (haha, lol)...
Ain hangs back with Wolfwood, shuffling in place before he starts picking at the inside of his jacket sleeves. A nervous habit these days, but one that isn't often seen... or won't be until way later, anyway.]
I'm just glad we've almost restored the El. That's all.
Right, right...that's been your mission this whole time.
[Wolfwood hums, as if nonchalant...but he's watching Ain like a hawk, reading his movements and facial expressions, gauging for a reaction as he talks.]
The El will be restored, everythin' will go back to the way it should be. ...and then what?
...and then... [and then he'll die.] Well, I should start saying goodbye, then, right? What need will we have for the El Search Party when the El is restored?
I guess you wouldn't. No one remembers me when I leave. [No one except for Wolfwood and sometimes, on occasion, Elsword.] Mr. Priest... if the El is restored, you won't ever see me again. That's why... I think we shouldn't restore it, haha...
[Oh, but that's where you're wrong, Ain. Wolfwood did remember...when everyone else forgot, he still remembered.
And now, everything is falling into place. What Ain is telling him now, the memory itself, the little bits and pieces of what he knows from the real world...
Haha... it's not that simple, is it? If we don't do it, the world will continue to be in this state, and it might end again. You... you wouldn't want that.
Of course, if we restore the El, I'll cease to exist.
[You wouldn't want that, Ain says, but the thing is...Wolfwood's never really had an opinion on the state of the world as a whole, or humanity, because he's never felt like he could do anything. Those thoughts from No Man's bleed through here, that sense of directionless ambling, of "I need to protect what is right in front of me".]
[Wolfwood wants to argue, thaat yes, you matter more than the faceless thousands that Wolfwood couldn't possibly know in this world...but he doesn't end up saying that, because he knows it would be upsetting in a way for Ain to hear.
But how is that any better than Ain having to disappear? To be forgotten by those he cares about the most??
Wolfwood grits his teeth...and then, without asking, he'll reach down to take Ain's hand to hold tightly.]

Do you remember? Now that he is here?

Guess that answers that.

Add will scoot along on Dynamo next to Wolfwood, clearly annoyed. They can stew in their mutual annoyance of Ain together, while he mutters:]
Unbelievable. That guy isn't human.

[Wolfwood out here cursing in a...what rating is Elsword-]
You get what I was sayin' now though, right?

You really think this group is gonna just split up as soon as that happens? I think Elsword would cry.
