Who: Mephisto and You! What: Various Top Levels for this + next month When: March-April Where: The Grove Warnings: Will come up where applicable, but body horror, violence, and missing limbs are likely.
[ Mephisto has drawn a very basic, yet clean map of the Grove. He knows there's a proper one one around here somewhere, but he doesn't need all of that to make his point here. Mephisto's handwriting is extremely neat and easy to read, certainly not that of your average fifteen year old. He has several places around the Grove circled, as well as paths marked out in different colored pens, and then red squares with writing in them where buildings are not currently. ]
Since we have our resource buildings (clinic, lab, and cafe) in the same general area here, putting an emergency storage in the area would make sense, where rations and a bunker would be the safest and the easiest to defend as well. As these buildings by the river would be best suited as fortifications for the water chokepoints. The forest itself, while usually a blessing in terms of perimeter security, might not lend to our benefit, considering. Thus, physical barriers on top of the magical one would not hurt to have, or at the very least, traps of some kind. Non-lethal ones, if we're all worried about our fellow kidnappees here.
The lines I drew in different colored pens are the best paths to take in terms of patrol, with each color being a different time and group, ideally. Seeing as some of you are able to fly, having watchtowers is unnecessary, but I do recommend some of you try not to get so rusty with your ranged attacks. I can set up a combat range at some point with the materials available, I'm sure.
No need to thank me. This is just a hobby. I'm sure I'll be working on this throughout to make it better.
~ Mephisto
P.S. Whoever's home estate is across the river, in terms of strategic layout, you're an idiot.
The point about having an emergency storage of rations and a bunker is really good. One of the last Hell Dimensions I lived in (which was a much bigger city than this place) had essentially a stockpile for this reason, because we were basically constantly under threat from The Horrors. It worked out well for us there.
There's a reason they're so good. Especially if we run into natural disasters and such, having a solid bunker will prevent any unnecessary causalities. I understand death is next to meaningless, but that doesn't mean we should be frivolous with our safety~
[ Mephisto....... doesn't actually care, really. But he also enjoys this sort of thing for some reason. ]
I can see about getting stocks of nonperishables, and a building like that set up. Perhaps having it be multipurpose would make it easier for us to convert it as needed.
I've been told the Guardians also patrol, but efficiency does save us on time and energy~ I could make a sign up sheet and optimize groups as well, if that's something people are interested in~
[ Not that anyone knows he's Literally A Teenager, but it's still immensely amusing everyone is just going along with it. ]
As fun as it is to see you so riled from a simple observation, calm down. I was not saying the one we had needed to be taken down, just that more are a waste of resources.
In that case, you should take the time to understand how "resources" work here. It's a matter of a request and a hint of magic. No one wasted any time cultivating stone or building it up.
My pro hero name is Explosive Hero: Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight.
My quirk is Explosion.
Regarding combat experience, I officially have my Provisional Hero License and work primarily within the country of Japan and have worked in other countries as well.
[ Highly aware of all the information he is putting out there, very unafraid and very curious to see what anyone says. ]
There is a point we have to be careful. Focusing on keeping things out and not on defenses inside as a whole leaves us to be a hen coop in fox-infested grounds.
But I do agree. A physical wall and a magical one would be nice, but I'm not so sure how feasible that is. Something I'll look into.
From what I've been told, there's people here you can ask for shit that they can just...I dunno, manifest, for a price. So might wanna start there.
[Till is going to go to Ydalir and Heimr himself eventually and freak out because they look. They look-]
Grandpa Vanilla [Sorry PV] talked about a...beach? being some days away from here. Dunno what that is but he made it sound like a whole different place, with its own buildings and stuff. Could also make a base there.
[ Mephisto is not really all that thrilled about a public bathhouse, if he's being honest. He's just a bit too reserved for things like this. But... the water being constantly warm, and having various herbal remedies would be... nice to just let it soak on his legs for a bit. So, the only things he takes off when he gets inside are his socks and then after... both of his leg prosthetics. They're connected to him about mid-calf, where there embedded into his skin he has quite the collection of Originium shards poking out. Even against the prosthetics themselves, which one mind be able to imagine is a bit like walking around with rocks in your shoes. Except, y'know, ten times worse.
Once they're off, Mephisto very gently settles what's left of his legs into the water with a bit of a hiss from the soreness of walking around all day. But... he'll finally settle after a moment, and just lull his head off to one side to relax. For, perhaps, the first time in... a very, very long time. ]
[Till...does not really want to be out here either. But you kindof have to take a bath at some point, and the Bathhouse is a level of fancy beyond anything he's ever even seen, let alone experienced before. Given that there's two parts to this (the first being the showers proper and then the bath to soak in), Till is actually here alone before Mephisto ever shows up, washing just generally. The plan was to just take a quick shower while nobody was here and then dip back to the Inn, but it just so happens that as he's getting dressed to head back out, he hears the sound of someone else walking in.
Reflex kicks in, and without thinking he finds somewhere to get out of sight. He's still filled with this feeling that he's...doing something wrong, being here, and that at any moment he could be apprehended or punished for it, so he has to hide and be quiet despite there being no real threat of that here. He hears the sound of Mephisto walking, the slow shuffle he became familiar with in their time in the Forest, so he can hazard a guess as to who that is.
Till waits until the walking stops before he emerges, his ears perked to try to listen. He catches the sound of movement, then the water being entered. He decides to stay out of the main bathing area, his back to the edge of the doorway, as opposed to just...walking in on him.
He could just...leave? He should leave.
...
Instead, he calls from a distance, his voice an echo.]
[ Mephisto doesn't really flinch at the sound of someone else. He doesn't really mind - after all, people tend to avoid him as is. For good reason. Besides, he recognizes this voice... ]
Hello, Mister Pathetic. It's just me. No need to be worried.

Patrols don't prevent things from happening, idiot. They're a first warning so that we can prepare or evacuate or etc. for whatever the situation is.

Im sorry I keep giving you him-
Just wish we could figure out some kind of better way to keep whatever is in the trees out.
[Like...with a big wall, which Mephisto already mentioned. Or a dome, or something. Sure would feel a lot safer.]
