Netbook; anonymous?

[Sort of. Min's taking advantage of ambidexterity because it's embarrassing to be bad at things. His handwriting is notably different from his usual and probably isn't immediately recognizable to anyone who isn't Ryan.]

What do people do if they can't protect themselves here? I don't want to be stuck inside all the time, but I don't want to have to rely on other people either.

Before anyone says it, I'm not looking to learn how to fight. With all the weirdness in this place there's got to be some other way.

Speed isn't everything. It's important to know how to use the environment to your advantage as well.

That, too. But I meant figuring out the best way to run away.

[ This probably needs an example... ]

Have you hard about the larger snakes in the woods? The ones guarding the flowers?

That's a good idea.

But if you did run into them, running straight away would be hard. They're big and fast, and there's two of them.

But you can use their size against them. If you run between trees that are too close together they'll have to either go around them or knock them over, which can slow them down. They're slower to turn than we are, too. So if you use trees to shield yourself while you double back the way you came, they'll have a hard time turning around to follow you.

That's what I meant about learning how to use your surroundings to your advantage.

Exactly.

With the smaller snakes, I think your best chance is to learn how to see them before they strike.

But not invisible or inaudible.

Though you would need to get closer to them to learn how to recognize how to spot and hear them...

Not easily. But they still make noise when they move around.
