Who: The Joshquest Party What: Joshquest When: At the end of June Where: The Night Vale Community Radio station Warnings: None here, but pay attention to CWs in tag subjects!
"Pavlova Cookie, something you have is an item of interest. One of the post-it notes- there's a square on the desk that I think it goes with. I think it's for the- ah, what that device there is?"
[ The post-it note contains several words that are scribbled out. Clearly, the password either changes semi-regularly, or this is a very, very old and occasionally used note, in which case the glue on it is VERY good at its job.
Either way! The most recent word isn't scribbled out yet, so that must be the password. The word is:
...it's. [The way he's about to eat his own words:] It's a collection of various songs put into what you'd call a cassette tape. They're outdated. Most of us just use our phones to store music. We can talk about the technicalities of it later.
Ahem. I imagine this might be the password, and if Mizuki didn't find anything on the computer, perhaps it's meant to be spoken into this microphone.
[...he's going to feel so stupid if this isn't it, but he holds the microphone up and says tentatively:]
[ Luckily, Thorns doesn't have to feel stupid! The moment that the word is spoken into the microphone, the wall - complete with the shelf in front of it - clicks outward and slides aside. Voila! A path has been opened!
The entrance leads into a hallway, which can only be described as being just shy of a vintage media collector's (very sanitary) hoarder house. The hallway is lined with piles consisting of boxes of tapes, reels, and records. It is a radio station, after all. It makes navigation difficult, but not impossible. At the end of the hallway, the path turns to the right and around a corner.
There are doors lining the hallway, all marked with unlit "ON AIR" signs. Most of these doors are blocked with boxes, though. There is also a set of two doors on the opposite side of the hallway, with men's and women's restroom signs on them. Both signs have printed out papers taped to them, stating "NOW IN UNISEX".
[Can he move the boxes and get into one of the ON AIR labelled rooms? Surely Josh isn't in the bathroom, surely he doesn't want to be walked in on if he is—]
[ The door is just your typical wooden door with a narrow but tall window panel spanning from nearly the top to nearly the bottom. Oddly, though, if you try to look through the window, you can't see anything. It's like it's pitch black in the room, or the window has been blacked out, and only your reflection looks back at you.
Fortunately, the door Thorns is checking is unlocked! Does he continue to open the door? ]
[ When the door opens, Thorns is met with... a very startled owl, who makes one hell of a racket as, in its panic, it knocks over the box of reels it had been nesting in and darts past him, out the door into the hallway. Surprise!
The room does seem to just genuinely be dark, however. The lights are not on in this room and there is no window to the outside. With the dim light filtering in from the hallway, he can see a vintage radio broadcasting setup covered in dust and cobwebs. The room doesn't look like it's been used in a long, long time. There is a door on the far side of the room, and judging by the large square window in the wall beside it, it can reasonably be assumed that it leads to a production booth. Which is also pitch dark, because why would you leave the lights on? That's just wasteful. ]
[ The owl wants absolutely nothing to do with y'all sorry it is trying to beeline its way out to the lobby it has been STUCK in there RUDELY for WEEKS-
Sidney, with his special eyes, can see a golden outline waaay far in the back. It looks to be in the production booth, and is fairly small and laying on a desk. ]
Li'l bit. ... There's somethin' in the back, but it's distant- I assume a few rooms are between us, but they're something that's accessible, or I wouldn't be able to see it.
I can unblock more doors for you. [Thorns, this man lifted your wiry ass up and ran off with you once, he'll be fine he can move his own damn boxes.] Ah, just... let me know if I should. I'm going to look at this radio otherwise.
[...]
Someone should probably open the back door for that woodclimbing beast that flew out into the hall. [Thorns, that's an owl.]

( SIDNEY.
still, might... as well... see if this works? )

Do you want the soil too?
[The rest of you can make jokes all you want but he's taking this starving wall Very Seriously.]
no subject
But Thorns will find out that, once all of the succulent leaves are gone, the stalk is... a microphone!
Sidney will also note that one of the post-its that Pavlova took is the glowing square from the desk. ]

Oh. Yeah one of them has passwords on it.
[ He was preoccupied with the wall eating his dad. He would have mentioned otherwise.
He leafs through the little notes he stole and picks out the password one, shining a light on it. ]

Either way! The most recent word isn't scribbled out yet, so that must be the password. The word is:
MIXTAPE
What will you do with this information? ]

Sidney, viejo... that's a word you should be familiar with.
[Isidro he's Not That Old.]
no subject
I don't know what that is.
