Good morning! This is Sesa. Vouivre, weapons engineer, DND master, video game wizard, etc etc etc

I’m to believe we do not have cameras here, so I am going to just have to make do with my impeccable drawing skills.

Can someone identify this mushroom for me? I am foraging on the off chance we have another famine before this wretched cold ceases.

And you didn't consider listing the color? What object you found it near or on? It's relative size to its surroundings? Patterning, perhaps?

in sesa-hyung's defense fly agaric are pretty easy to identify based on that drawing because theres not a lot of stuff here anyway and they look pretty signf signifft sig they look pretty youuneeq

I don’t have these where I’m from, so I wasn’t sure what the ettiequte would be for identification.

Assuming your "artwork" is accurate, then I suppose it doesn't matter. Though you could humor me and describe it.

Well…it’s in a cluster. They’re smooth and round, maybe a little bit flat in some places? They’re growing in an irregular stack on top of each other between the bark of a fallen log.

They’re also a sort of dusty brownish cream color.

So they... don't at all look like what you drew.

I know I said I was an impeccable artist but I’ve never seen a mushroom before! Not in real life!!

And you could not have looked at the mushroom and simply... drawn what you see?
Imagine, if you will, that the situation was reversed. Had you drawn an oyster mushroom, doubtless anyone with common sense would say "yes, eat it."

And then where would you be?

I should say so! It’s just me out here, and I haven’t touched the mushrooms yet. I just wasn’t sure what I was looking at.

And I am sure there are many more out here I will be unable to identify, for that matter…

Might I recommend bringing a book next time? I'm sure you can find something that identifies the local species within the school library.

There aren’t very many mushrooms out here right now due too the cold, but I’ve now learnt its better to be safe than sorry.
