The ones in charge sure don't seem to, that's for sure.

Luckily, it seems like most of humanity does. It's the bad apples that spoil the barrel. But in times of adversity, they band together. Fundraisers, charities, food drives, you name it. There are people looking out for others.

[Ah, that mollifies him a bit.]

Good... that gladdens me. As long as there is kindness and love in their hearts, I believe they will overcome this... capitalism and remember what it means to truly live. But to truly think those in the position of power - the position to do what is right - have lost their way so thoroughly...

Unfortunately, that's what greed does. It blinds them to the plight of others, and they're only worried about themselves.

You sound like you're in the other camp, though. Believing in people, and all that. Very humanitarian.

Greed is not an unusual thing, even for us, but

[He has no idea how to finish that. It's always been in a useful way. The Greed needed to amass wealth so your citizens are cared for and happy. The Greed needed to be the best so no one else suffers.]

Ah, yes, I fully believe everyone has the ability to do good, to be the best of themselves. No matter how off the path they may stray, I believe they can return to it.

[Cookietarian.]

["Even for us"? That's interesting. He marks that down in his head. Someone not human, then?]

How optimistic of you. Even when they've committed unspeakable crimes, you still believe in them?

[ Visions of Dark Enchantress dance in his head... ]

Yes. I believe that no one is beyond redemption.

[ But DOES he, a little voice whispers. Silly-vanilly, stop lying to yourself! ]

[Hmm...]

Well, you have a kinder heart than most. Hopefully that doesn't come back to bite you.

It may, someday, but even then, I won't let it dissuade me.

[just like from his animes]

I have a feeling you'll end up just fine. You seem like you have a strong will. It's a very endearing trait.

[ hey guess what ]

Thank you for saying so, I know some may find it naive.
leggierissimo: (I am thankful that I still have a liver.)

Maybe a little, but there's nothing wrong with it. It's fun, rooting for the underdog.

You know, I never did get your name?

[personal profile] purevanillacookie 2024-03-10 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
Oh! Do forgive me! My name is Pure Vanilla Cookie. You may simply call me Pure Vanilla, if you prefer! Or you may shorten it further, if you find it too long!
leggierissimo: (We still on for Manwhore Monday?)

[personal profile] leggierissimo 2024-03-10 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, no wonder you were so interested in artificial vanilla.

Is the full name with Cookie added a more formal way of saying it? Just out of curiosity.
purevanillacookie: (002)

[personal profile] purevanillacookie 2024-03-10 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, the idea of artificial vanilla is intriguing from a standpoint of being made from it!

It is indeed mostly a formality. It is polite to introduce oneself fully, even though we all quite understand we are all Cookies back home. The Cookie part may be dropped at request of the individual - thought it is often only done so amongst close friends. It merely does not bother me if I am addressed with less formality and more familiarity!

Ah, I see. Well, then, Pure Vanilla it is. It's a pleasure.

Likewise, just call me Joshua.
purevanillacookie: (011)

[personal profile] purevanillacookie 2024-03-13 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
And it is a pleasure to meet you, Joshua! I thank you for your candid take on vanilla and it's artificial cousin!
leggierissimo: (Kind of like morning wood in my brain.)

You're welcome. There's more where that came from, believe me.

Aha, so I noticed! There are a few Cookies back home who I know would have loved your input!

Well, they have excellent taste, then.
