For me, it's an interesting phenomenon. Lightning is a form of wrath, do you not think? Mythology from eons ago say it was a sign of the Gods' displeasure with mankind.
Are you very familiar with mythology? There were many other such tales. Eclipses were a sign of displeasure from the Gods, too. Sacrifices would be done in that brief window of time until the sun came back to the people.
Naturally, we know that these are all cosmic phenomenon and not the cause of deities' displeasure. There are many Sargonian mythologies about such things — and I'm realising I'm beginning to sound like Gnosis.
( help my inbox ate this and i am so upset bC I WAS EXCITED FOR IT )
I remember reading something like that, yes. I don't often get to study mythology. Mom was very set on me becoming a doctor, and she often removed anything not related to such a path.
I have never had it affect the weather. Godly powers like that are beyond me. Trust me, I've been using electricity-based Arts for decades now. I'd be happy to show you how my Arts look so that they're more discernable.
At any time, you're free to come to the workshop, and I shall show you.
I have not attempted to alter the weather. On Terra, altering the weather could bring Catastrophes — simply put, a storm where a stone known as Originium rains from the sky and spreads a disease known as Oripathy. Aside from that, the damage often kills thousands of people every occurrence, and thousands more will become Infected.
So no. I could attempt to do so here, but I do have to account for the consequence of the Divines for it.
Fascinating. Certainly not something to experiment with, in that case, but I would love to know more. Would you mind if I ask some questions when I come by?

I didn't realize you could call lightning like that. It reminds me of the severe storms when I was a child.

It does make sense. It's a very powerful phenomenon, and when it does strike it can be outright disastrous...

[Gnosis somewhere, ears burning:]

It's interesting, though.

My lightning comes from my Arts Unit. It has no bearings on the weather itself — I can cast on sunny days just as well as cloudy.

Natural lightning, however, is a hazard worth taking note of. It would be useful to know one from the other if circumstances make it unclear.
I would also be curious to know how artificial lightning can affect existing weather conditions, but that is beside the point.

Have you ever tried to alter the weather? It's a matter of cause and effect like anything else. You hardly need to be a god.
