In case anyone was not aware, a group of us is attempting to build a portal to a divine library on Beiwe's advice. Unfortunately, two members of our team have gone missing and are not expected to return. The project will continue, but additional help would be greatly appreciated.

Specifically, we need more hands. There's a lot to be done, including heavy lifting, and the more people we have to help the faster it will go.

There's no need to ask me for permission, simply come to the center of the Grove where the portal is being built and ask what you can do.

Hello, my friends, forgive this suddenness but would anyone be willing to aid me in potentially dangerous endeavor? There is something affecting the Stars in the forest, and I wish to find a cure before it is too late. There was a mention of it before, several months ago, with the vision revealed to us of Hoku but I fear it has gotten worse.

The only manner in which I can see finding a cure is to capture one of the afflicted Stars, which is why I request aid. I will not be able to do it alone, nor would I chance it. They only come out at night, which makes it even more dangerous.

As well as those willing to research a cure with me. Time is of the essence, I'm afraid, so the more minds we have on it the better. Though I do understand there is much going on as well, and I do not wish to pull too many people in too many directions!

Clive here. I am unsure how to write this due to the sensitive nature of it, but I have some further information from Beiwe I wished to confirm before sharing. It may aid us in our fight against the forest.

Forgive me for being vague, but I am unsure who is corrupted, and as such I hesitate to write anything further. Yet this information must be shared.

As well, I wish to speak personally to Timekeeper Cookie, Vash, and Wolfwood, if I may.

Hi, this is Mamika.

I know people are... feeling a bit bad, and that morale is down, and stuff, but... I think something that might help, especially since it'd be hard to get all of us together, would be simple games over the notebook? Something to entertain while you recover, and it's low effort so you don't gotta move around so much...??

In school, I would play stuff like 20 questions (a game where someone thinks about a person, place, or thing in their head, and people gotta ask questions to try and guess what it is!) or Would You Rather... or, um! My favorite was two truths and a lie!!! I was never very good at that one because I'm not good at lying, but I still had fun anyway.

...

We don't have to, of course, I just... I think maybe... something fun to get us doing stuff together will help.

This is Odile.

I have spoken with Beiwe, and regarding the sacrifices the wraiths demand:

It should indeed improve the weather to give the spirits offerings. They do not require living sacrifices. She believes they are attached primarily to emotion, but any offering should suffice. Prayer may also help, but that seems to be an observation on past customs on Beiwe's part.

We as a group have been specifically instructed not to sacrifice each other.

There are to be NO human, semi-human, humanoid, or sapient non-human sacrifices.

This is Enciodes Silverash.

I will be fairly blunt here: I intend to go out into the woods to figure out the location of the forest entity and, if found, kill him. This is, I believe, the coldest winter we are going to get, and judging by how it reacted (by sleeping for months) last year, I firmly believe that if we intend to make a move, it has to be now.

I do not expect anyone to join me. I will not stop anyone who wants to, however. I do warn that I do not have much in the way of a plan, however. There is a high likelihood of death, but considering how things go here, it's a risk I'm willing.

I'll be heading out when the sun sets. For anyone needing gear, you have time to get that together and grab things from Heimr. If you let him know the plan, I'm sure he'd be willing to loan some things.

Thank you.

[there's a new handwriting on the notebook. Scratchy and with a tendency to slowly tilt down the page]

Hello folks! Name's Whippoorwill, but just Will is fine- I just arrived with a few others and wow, you all seem to be having a bit of a weather issue, huh?

I did some digging around though, since if this is going to be a long term tourist I'd rather not have my tail freeze right off! Sniffing around your library I found some records that suggest these kinds of winters happen every hundred years or so. Part natural weather shifts and magical backlog is my guess, but either way there were a few suggestions for things to try and ease it off. Emotional expressions even it out some. Giving up memories or items you have an emotional investment in could help too- make sure not to burn anything too close to your house or you'll get warm for the rest of your life.

Blood sacrifice too, is an option. Speaking of, anyone got some chickens or goats they don't mind losing?

There's been more thunder and lightning lately. The snowstorm isn't worsening that much, is it?

If I had a nickel for every time I've woken up at the end of the month with a full set of memories from another version of me that's just a little to the left

I would have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, I guess, but it's weird that it's happened twice.

[The handwriting on this page is distinct enough to be familiar to those who've read Timekeeper's comments before - a neat script, albeit missing some of its signature little hooks and arrows at the end of letters, and less mechanically precise than usual.]

Hello everyone! I hope you're all doing well. As I've come to understand it, some of us have been lured into the woods this month and come back different. Insofar as we can tell, those who have done this appear to have swapped timelines with a different version of themselves. A little rough immediately after we all had to deal with doppelgangers, I know, but please don't panic if someone you know seems a little off.

That being said, hi! I'm Croissant Cookie. Loop tells me that the version of myself who was here before was called Timekeeper Cookie, and that she's... quite different from me. I don't know much more than that, but I'm not really sure how appropriate it would be to pry, so sorry to anyone who was expecting her instead. I also apologize for not writing this sooner - I've been quite wrapped up in getting things sorted so I can work on this timeline issue.

If you want to help, Loop asked who went into the forest on a previous page, it would be great if anyone who did could go there and answer honestly! Or just answer here if you don't want them teasing you. I won't judge, I did the same myself after all. :)

A HEARTBEAT BENEATH THE STAIRS
As the season turns, and blood sinks into the ground of the Grove, as monsters with your face haunt the halls, waiting to pounce, something else is creeping into light. Distantly one might see a light in the forest at night, and the next it comes closer. And closer. Until in the treeline you can see it: a pitch black manor that looks as if it’s covered in ash. The trees act as its gates, rebuffing anyone who tries to investigate, and the air smells like rot. Something watches in the windows, but vanishes when you blink.

… But not even this dark manor can stand in the way of one very angry grandfather skeleton, who will, eventually, rattle his teeth and bones in a rallying cry and urge others to follow him, sword in hand. It’s time to storm the castle, and Mr. Bone-Jangles has had enough.

The air within the manor is frigid and biting, and the inside itself is as decrepit as you may expect. Lights and candles can light the way… but only for a few minutes. The wood creaks as if the building is breathing slowly, and sometimes you here a loud thum-thump, as if its unseen heart beats while you explore.

For an already imposing building, inside seems even larger and there’s almost no end in sight as it feels like the halls wind on forever and more and more rooms, from libraries to studies to bedrooms to- … is this room dedicated to WWE Wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson? … Needless to say, there’s a lot to work through, but Bone-Jangles urges you onward.

Wisps of color drift through. Are they your friends? Or something else?
A NIGHTMARE ON YOUR LIPS
And to those who have been locked away for days, perhaps weeks, nothing in this house feels real. Is it a dream? Is it a nightmare? The mere mention of a potential addition from your lips manifests another new room within the manor, but you cannot touch anything. Light hurts and makes you dizzy, while the night is painfully cold. How long has it been? How long will it be?

The burst of life is- new. Exciting. Distantly, you know these people, but the urges of death are whimsical and cruel. Part of you wants to guide them to the attic, where your souls are chained in full to a portrait of you. Break those portraits, and you're free, coming back to life outside, which is what you want, isn't it? Another part of you wants to chase them out, how dare they intrude upon your afterlife? Another yet thinks it’s time to play, but no longer remembers what ‘play’ is- so surely they can dodge the plates and books, right? Right!

And another yet wants the intruders dead. And if not by your hands, then by the demons guarding this world alongside you.
