netbook - early mid month
[there's a new handwriting on the notebook. Scratchy and with a tendency to slowly tilt down the page]
Hello folks! Name's Whippoorwill, but just Will is fine- I just arrived with a few others and wow, you all seem to be having a bit of a weather issue, huh?
I did some digging around though, since if this is going to be a long term tourist I'd rather not have my tail freeze right off! Sniffing around your library I found some records that suggest these kinds of winters happen every hundred years or so. Part natural weather shifts and magical backlog is my guess, but either way there were a few suggestions for things to try and ease it off. Emotional expressions even it out some. Giving up memories or items you have an emotional investment in could help too- make sure not to burn anything too close to your house or you'll get warm for the rest of your life.
Blood sacrifice too, is an option. Speaking of, anyone got some chickens or goats they don't mind losing?

[he pauses, then after:]
I meant the emotions part. Bird names are a family tradition, but my brother was like, 12 when he picked it out so I can give him some slack for the mouthful

[He's pretty sure a 12-year-old boy isn't thinking of a bird either, but eh. It makes for a funny story at least?]
