journal cw mentions of zombie-like illness
Hello, my friends, forgive this suddenness but would anyone be willing to aid me in potentially dangerous endeavor? There is something affecting the Stars in the forest, and I wish to find a cure before it is too late. There was a mention of it before, several months ago, with the vision revealed to us of Hoku but I fear it has gotten worse.
The only manner in which I can see finding a cure is to capture one of the afflicted Stars, which is why I request aid. I will not be able to do it alone, nor would I chance it. They only come out at night, which makes it even more dangerous.
As well as those willing to research a cure with me. Time is of the essence, I'm afraid, so the more minds we have on it the better. Though I do understand there is much going on as well, and I do not wish to pull too many people in too many directions!

In your brain
Heeey, hey, Vanilly, just what ARE you getting up to without my say?
[Like he is one to talk about recklessness but also- he's kind of curious-]
jesters in MY brain?!
[ Despite the tease he will set his journal down and let Shadow Milk explore the memory of his talk with Felicity. ]
it more likely than you think
[But, okay fine, he will peruse this memory. Hm.
...
DAD??
Shadow Milk spends an awful long time trying to work out the logistics of THAT before he moves on. Hm.]
I've never been one for the horror genre, myself. Toooo gross in the clean up, you know? No one likes to mop the guts off the stage when it's all said and done.
no subject
[ He says while haha'ing mirthlessly to no one in particular. It most certainly will be, especially if they encounter Hoku. ]
Yet it must be done. We cannot afford to lose any more to our captor. The stars are powerful, the larger ones more so than the small ones a few of us have found and care for. For him to have that power on his side is dangerous. In many ways.
[ And his daughter is under attack and Pure Vanilla will stop at nothing to make sure it ceases, even if it means blasting every damn corrupted star apart. ]
no subject
[He is turning this over in his mind eeeeeever so carefully.]
It'll reaaaally grind the gears of that creature if we do this hmm?
[He also sees the way you are getting deranged about your daughter. He likes to enable this side of Vanilla but maybe not when this would probably blame him for rampant destruction.]
It's a magical affliction, right? And you didn't think to ask me? I'm hurt, Vanilly, absolutely jilted.

[ The bluntness is a little neutral, a little in that zone, but it's quick to pass again, Vanilla huffing to the scolding. ]
You assume I wouldn't have contacted you personally? Think more highly of me! Besides, I have another proposal for you. Something a little more indulgent.
[ And the memory of Callans conversation will be floated gently across Shadow Milks mind. ]
no subject
Oh? Do tell.
[Oh, this IS more interesting. Vanilla has certainly been getting some ideas lately, but yes, this is certainly something of interest to him for MANY reasons. He has been spending a lot of time pouring over that research they found.]
[He would like to try and magic for real again, see if he can get around this seal somehow.]
Oooooh, how lucky was it, that this little venture was previously foreshadowed, eh?
no subject
[ He taps his fingers lightly together, picking at his nails, before sheepishly admitting: ]
I may have already located and retrieved Terho's bones...
no subject
WEEEEEELL, you were never one to dilly-dally were you? Ohhh, by the OVENS, is this my doing? Shame on ME! Where are you? I want to see.
no subject
I will come to you.
[ They took most of the books to the Inn, after all. And this house isn't just his home. It's Lily's and Cacao's. He cannot invite the Jester in. ]
Your room?

I'm playing poker with Sir Don Coo Whip, and I don't think he's figured out I've been cheating the last four rounds.
[He's ....lying? He isn't doing this currently, he did this last night and got knocked off the roof.]
no subject
[ No wait, that's the truth? No, it's a lie. That makes him pause as he sorts that out, his arms full of the carefully bundled bones, his expression puzzled. Shadow Milk will feel the light touch of mental fingers as Pure Vanilla peeks.
Oh. ]
On his own turf! Shadow Milk Cookie, honestly!
[ He's absolutely scandalized on the Don's behalf, before heading out towards the Inn. ]
no subject
He shouldn't have made himself such an easy target! Next time he won't make it so easy for me to count cards!
[But yes, he's at his Inn room, tidying up a little? Things are floating around while he tries to organize all the notes. It's likely that PV will come in as he has everyone floating about, letters over here, research here, everything about necromancy goes here, anything hinting at related research on this table, etc etc.]
[He floats a bit off the ground with a tea cup in his hand.]

Then he can't stop himself from flipping through the notes, his brow furrowed a little in thought as he uses his finger to keep Shadow Milks place while looking at them himself. He understands them far better than Percy ever did, Comprehension swirling through his mind as he absorbs the written work.
Seamus was truly impressive for not being full of Knowledge. The mans theories were complex and deep, and the fact he managed to rip open a door.
When Pure Vanilla finally glances at Shadow Milk, there's respect and more than a little delight there. He was second only to Lily in the Academy, after all, and he still finds deep enjoyment in learning. ]
It's quite amazing what you managed before, with nothing to back yourself but your own mind.

[He lets him read as he likes. Shadow Milk has already read through everything several times, and he has his own notes on it, which they will likely go over in a little while.]
It would have been a shocking upset if anything else but that had been true, Vanilly. We are talking about me, after all!
[Oh, but the praise is lovely. The praise is good, and there is a bit of fireworks here in the connection at getting it.]
Though, I must say ...it really lays some fascinating ground work in understanding how the magic of this place is arrayed. I've been pouring over it a loooot since we gathered up things from that dusty old hall. Here, I've put the necessary reading overrrr yonder~

Ah, I should have brought some books from my personal library I brought from home.
[ Not that it wouldn't be filled with things Shadow Milk doesn't already know, but he has some of his own written works there, including his notes on working magic and mechanical together. Which... he might later, as he's trying to figure out an arm replacement for Cacao.
He shakes his head to get himself back on track, his hair swaying in the ponytail he's pulled it in to. ]
My mind is open to you, it would be much faster if you just...
[ He brushes his mind against Shadow Milks, inviting. Give him the knowledge. ]
no subject
Are you sure I didn't write all of those books?
[Not to be full of himself or anything. However, if there is stuff written by Vanilla he would be interested in it. The curiosity is clear in the connection, even before he is suddenly brushing their minds together.]
[He isn't taken aback or anything, this really is easier, and he is happy to indulge in their connection.]
[He opens up like a pristine library, perhaps even Vanilla will find himself in the halls of what looks a lot like the Blueberry Yogurt Academy at a glance. The information should come quickly to him. Pages and pages of detailed research, of extrapolated notes connecting in strings all over the pages, pulling together a whole picture from letters and notes scribbled on margins. There comes in after it, Shadow Milk's own theories, a mesh of what he has learned of the magic here with his own thoughts on magic theory from Earthbread, breaking down into thoughtful magical equations and theories.]
[What it all comes down to is a handful of possibilities, of steps and rituals in which could be tested to get the results they might be looking for.]

[ There's laughter in his voice, but he knows it's True.
And like the Spire, it happens in an instance yet feels like ages. He "reads" and absorbs the knowledge Shadow Milk shares; notes, books, letters. Diagrams and theories, spells and symbols overlaid. He pours over everything Shadow Milk gives him, excitedly adding his own. What if this instead of that, if they combine this with this.
He curiously reaches out with his Soul Jam as he does as well, attempting to see if he can share Comprehension with his other-half. He doesn't bother adding his own journal notes, not yet, it's not worth it but it might for the portal later.
Instead he offers what he knows he can do: should someone fall to the brink of death, their soul beginning to separate from their body, he can tie it back together. It came with his awakening. If Shadow Milk can use that... ]

[He's only distracted by the opening of the Soul Jam, and his own reacts in kind. It lights up, softly, as if coming off of a long slumber, reacting to its twin. He feels Comprehension run through him, like a strange long lost friend, and with it...]
[Something very new. Pure Vanilla has always been a healer above all else, where Shadow Milk was a raw mage who entrenched himself in the Dark Side of the Moon, to have this new insight is very intriguing, and he reaches out to it to turn it over curiously, as if being given a new spell book.]
[Yes- they can. This can act as a bonding agent, something to anchor while they apply the proper means to resurrect. Souls are such delicate, finicky things to work with in spells, after all, they can slip through your hands so easily while trying to get the body warm enough to accept.]
no subject
When he feels Shadow Milks jam resonate he sighs softly. He thought so. It's faint yet, a gossamer whisper of a sensation but it's there. Shadow Milk is coming closer to accepting the Truth, his soul finding balance and healing. Slowly taking his first steps forward.
And he can't help but feel joy over the idea they can use his new abilities. He'll never be the great Sage Shadow Milk was, but life and death is both within his grasp, and if alone Seamus was able to make a door to the realm of souls here, what could they do together?
Caught up in the moment, he reaches out with the jam again like an open hand. Not just touching Comprehension to Shadow Milk, but opening it like a door. Offering. Won't you come in? ]
no subject
[Perhaps that is why he finds so much comfort in this, that even now, knowing the last time he gave into this feeling, it left him betrayed and alone, how like a moth drawn to the flame he can't help but reach out again.]
[What could they do together?]
[His Jam flutters to life as he crosses the threshold, reaching not for the other half of the Soul Jam, but for Pure Vanilla himself. To meet him on the other side.]
