[Written ...surprisingly neat for someone who's hands are much different than they used to be. However, some might say the form Mayoi has been in has been not one of drastic change. Being awake at night, hanging upside down, siding in cool dark places, eating fruit...yeah.]

Ah, In light of the strange month we have all been having, and because I would like to discuss this topic while I am stuck in a form where I can do little about it, I would like to pose a question to the Grove, if ...if that is okay.

What is you relationship with music? What does it mean to you?

I just like playing it ^^

When me and my friends were travelling, we heard lots of music from lots of different cities and towns on the way. :O I associate a lot of that with happy memories. But I don't really like sad or edgy songs, really, so I guess music is mostly about joy to me. ^^

That's a very beautiful thing, though, isn't it? To have something like music to remind you of your happy memories.

So, you are a fan of the more upbeat genres then?

Yep! And cute love songs played on an acoustic guitar, hehe.

I see, I am not surprised to hear that Ain-san likes happy love songs. Acoustic performances also give the impression of ...something more personal, or intimate, I think.

It's a way to take the edge off, I suppose. I wouldn't have described myself as overly musical several years ago, and I'm still not. My partner back home, however, has a band he's obsessed with and never stops talking about.

All that aside, if I had to name it specifically? I associate music with him, and with long journeys overseas.

Association to a treasured person, I see. How lovely. What sort of band is it?

They're called "Alive Until Sunset", a rock band. He pestered me several years ago to bring him back a signed poster when they happened to be in the same country I was in for work.

The Silver Kingdom inscribe their stories and knowledge in song, and the library is organized by music notes rather than alphabetical order. Even the scrolls were music scores instead of regular books.

Song is very important to them, and it's become dear to me as well. I was told I only seem to dance when I'm happy...

Oh, such a place sounds incredible. I would love to see such a thing- to treat music as their written language.

I wonder what their songs sound like..

Ah! Dancing can be quite difficult if one doesn't feel it, however. As an instructor, I've found mood greatly shifts ones ability to preform.

Complicated, mostly. I'm a bit sad there's not music here to listen to often. It's not like we have internet or anything like that.

Yes ...I never realized how I took for granted having access to even just a single radio...

I was once a performer, and I have considered taking it back up again, but that is not quite the same as having access to libraries of digital media.

I can play the drums though. Music ain't my interest, I know better than to pusue something halfheartedly.

Ah! Ryan-san! Yes, I would still love to do that. I've also acquired a whole collection of my unit's music and videos if... ah, if you might be interested in hearing them.

I agree. My ah ...my voice is not exactly where it should be right now, for me to sing, but as soon as I am out of this form I shall let you know.

Aw, that sucks. Honestly I could probably still play? But Min-Gi's kind of a merman right now and probably shouldn't be playing electronic instruments in the water, you know? And I'm not about to go jam without him, so yeah! Once we're not creature-y any more we'll totally have a jam sesh. 🎵🎶🎵

You already know this. But music to me is "Salvation". It is what my group sought to offer to those alone in their pain, and how I can reconnect with "myself". I do not know how to read my heart, so my music lets me put it into words and feelings others can understand, and through this, I can understand myself.

I do know this, but it is such a beautiful thing to hear, I am happy all the same that you responded. That music can give you so much is lovely. I hope that one day I can give the same to others, in this way, that the words I sing can mean so much, because I am much the same in how expressing myself is often so much easier through song.

We both share a goal in our songs, just through different emotions.

Music's about expression. You can say anything. Tell any story. There's so much freedom the possibilities are practically endless.

Even if you don't know how to play I think finding the right song can make you feel understood in a way regular conversation just can't.

Ah! I agree with this a lot.

I have very often found it difficult to express myself around others, always afraid of saying the wrong things, or not being understood. Being able to sing with my heart on stage has done wonders for helping me with that.

Same here. I think that's part of why I used to be so scared of singing up on stage. Even if it's a song that sounds silly to someone else, if I wrote it then it's important to me, you know? I didn't want to put myself out there if it meant I'd probably only get ignored or laughed at.

Now it's not like it ISN'T a big deal, but I feel like as long as Ryan hears it doesn't matter so much what anyone else thinks. It's still nice if someone else likes our music and we kind of need at least a few fans if we want to make it, but I know it isn't pointless if not everyone understands us.
