[in the middle of the night, hastily scribbled words come across the netbook with the urgency of someone who really doesn't want to forget something.]

blizzard — cave in the mountains — nearing the peak? campfire dying, supply wagon visible but no one here

important:

sword, snapped, broken glaive stuck in ground

flowers blooming in the snow

glass ball, broken — crystal ball??

tree with unshed leaves

scarf, shimmering thread — looking at this prompted inhuman shrieks in the distance

skull, bestial, tentacles stuck into the eye sockets

orb of light — one of the few sources of warmth in the cold

golden scale, shielding the area from the storm

objects depicting a sun, moon, and half black sun — floating in the blue glow of a staff ending in a dreamcatcher — growing dim — trying to stay lit

[there's a period of time before an addition is added]

Hello— for those who have met me, this is Astrid. I have been known to have prophetic dreams; some straight forward, some less so. This was one of the latter, and I didn't want to forget the details upon waking up.

Unfortunately, I haven't been here long enough to accurately interpret what I've seen. Maybe we can all come together and figure this out? I'm worried it could spell ill fortune.

Up to you whether or not you want to believe in it. I don't really have anything to lose or gain from relaying the information.

I wonder if something's protecting us from a harsh incoming winter, though. There is that shield from the scale, as well as the flowers blooming in the snow and the tree that hasn't yet shed its leaves.

LOOK IT'S NOT THAT I DON'T BELIEVE IN IT ENTIRELY. I'VE GOT A NEPHEW WHO CAN WALK AROUND IN OTHER PEOPLE'S DREAMS. IT'S JUST EASY TO MANIPULATE THAT KINDA THING! OR TELL YOURSELF STUFF MEANS THINGS IT DOESN'T MEAN!

Oh, I can do that, too. Maybe he and I will run into each other at some point.

That said, I can tell the difference between a dream and a prophecy. Don't ask me how, I just can. So while I'm confident this is telling me something, I don't really know what that something is.

I can't say for sure what kind of skull it was, though. I'm unfortunately not versed on mammalian anatomy.

EH, PROBABLY! THE KID'S NOSY AS HECK SO I WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED.

[He means this affectionately, but that's a little tough in screaming text. But on the upside, at least he doesn't question the prophesy vs. dream issue. If the guy's sure then whatever, sure.]

TOO BAD IT WAS JUST IN YOUR DREAMS. I PROLLY COULD'VE FIGURED OUT WHAT IT WAS - IF IT'S A NORMAL ANIMAL ANYWAY. I'VE DONE A LOT OF WORK WITH BONES!!!
