With that explanation, though, it's easy to see how someone under pressure to make enough money to survive might suffer a bit of creative burn-out.

That is a horrible system! Do you truly mean to say those that do not have the required money go without?!
Surviving is not living! This is a cruelty... Is this like this in your world all over?

Unfortunately. Some places are better than others. It really depends on the country. In Japan, where I'm from, you can take an ambulance to the hospital for free, but I've heard that in the United States, that alone can cost you thousands of dollars on top of all the other medical costs.
Which is a lot, by the way.

Pure Vanilla has no words. He is truly disgusted.]
Does your world not care for their fellows?!

Luckily, it seems like most of humanity does. It's the bad apples that spoil the barrel. But in times of adversity, they band together. Fundraisers, charities, food drives, you name it. There are people looking out for others.

Good... that gladdens me. As long as there is kindness and love in their hearts, I believe they will overcome this... capitalism and remember what it means to truly live. But to truly think those in the position of power - the position to do what is right - have lost their way so thoroughly...

You sound like you're in the other camp, though. Believing in people, and all that. Very humanitarian.

[He has no idea how to finish that. It's always been in a useful way. The Greed needed to amass wealth so your citizens are cared for and happy. The Greed needed to be the best so no one else suffers.]
Ah, yes, I fully believe everyone has the ability to do good, to be the best of themselves. No matter how off the path they may stray, I believe they can return to it.
[Cookietarian.]

How optimistic of you. Even when they've committed unspeakable crimes, you still believe in them?
no subject
Yes. I believe that no one is beyond redemption.
[ But DOES he, a little voice whispers. Silly-vanilly, stop lying to yourself! ]

Well, you have a kinder heart than most. Hopefully that doesn't come back to bite you.

I have a feeling you'll end up just fine. You seem like you have a strong will. It's a very endearing trait.

Thank you for saying so, I know some may find it naive.

You know, I never did get your name?

Is the full name with Cookie added a more formal way of saying it? Just out of curiosity.

It is indeed mostly a formality. It is polite to introduce oneself fully, even though we all quite understand we are all Cookies back home. The Cookie part may be dropped at request of the individual - thought it is often only done so amongst close friends. It merely does not bother me if I am addressed with less formality and more familiarity!

Likewise, just call me Joshua.
