May 1, cw: large dog
Instead he goes to the Trader and comes back with a dog. Not just a dog though, a puppy cradled in his arms. Even as a puppy the cake animal is big, reaching to Cacao's knee when standing. But held by the big man it looks like a baby.
He goes straight home first of course. He needs to tell Pure Vanilla and Clotted Cream what he's decided. But later he can be found outside with the puppy. Training is important, but the first step is not work but bonding. So he can be found playing tug with it, and rolling a ball to it... and giving it a treat when it willingly trots up to him.]
Good. See, we are friends.
at home
He stops tending his garden when he hears Cacao approaching again, smiling and cleaning dirt off his hands with the towel around his waist before heading around the front again.
To stop dead in his tracks, delighted surprise instantly lighting his face up. Even if the prey part of him wants him to throw his head back, bleat in terror, and run off into the distance. ]
A cream pup!
[ There is also the soft tilt of a question there. ]

It was... a bit of an impulse choice. But when I heard the Grove was mass attacked before I arrived... well, having a defender that can warn us seemed prudent.
no subject
Ah, a prudent decision! I am certain there was nothing else on your mind affecting your choice.
[ He can tease. ]
no subject
I do not know what you mean.
[Suuure dc]

[ That's all he says, taking a page out of Cacao's book, though his smile is wide and sweet. And he will take the Pup from the other man, handing him his staff in return. He gets to cuddle it. Even if it looks ridiculously large in his arms...]
Have you thought of a name?
no subject
Hm. Not yet. It should be short and sharp so it can hear it easily and not be confused.
no subject
Ah, if only Crunchy Chip Cookie was here, I am sure he'd have a name for you.
[ Oven Razer. Speed Devil. Exterminator. The Best Boy To Exist. ]
Bundtley?
no subject
[He's absolutely considering it]
no subject
A pause. A ponder. ]
Oreo.
no subject
[They are SO BAD AT IT]
no subject
Oreo the Cream Wolf. It is rather fitting!
DOG!! DOG!! DOG!!!!
Hm.
Anyway these two have never spoken, but Passenger is walking up anyway simply to ask:]
Pardon me... is your dog made out of cake?
[No hi hello just "is your dog cake." Riveting.]
no subject
[He looks up, letting the puppy gnaw on the tug for a bit]
no subject
Does your cake-puppy have a name?
[Riveting old man conversation here.]

[...]
You may pet it.
[It's important for it to get used to people]
no subject
I will admit, I was expecting it to be much stickier.
[Like, it's cake, there's some sticky there... but clearly he was expecting something else.]
Should it get messy, how will you bathe it? Am I right in assuming that water is not the solution?
no subject
Beings where we come from are made from sugar and flour- water is very dangerous. For bathing I would use scrubbing with flour and sugar. A little milk for the worst stains, used very carefully.
[The puppy is delighted by the petting, tail wagging]

[He offers the small pouch of treats- it's dry banana chips and roasted cacao beans]
no subject
[He will take the pouch, glance into it, and offer the pup a banana chip. Here you go, little buddy!]
I ask because I believe everyone here has a penchant for feeding Rusty table scraps, but as a flesh-and-blood dog, his dietary needs are different. For instance, he cannot have these cacao beans. I would not wish to feed a begging pup something that will make it ill. [Leans down to the pup, whispers:] You may have the grapes that Rusty cannot have. Is this a fair arrangement for you, little one?
no subject
I see... it seems beasts here are a bit more delicate.
