New netbook, who this?

[ so if you happen to glance at your notebook at some point you might catch some writing, very very NICE writing (like someone that probably practices calligraphy, though it's slightly shaky) popping up.

First are a series of numbers that might be recognizable as measurements? Size-wise it's a decent sized space. In fact, it's a very estimated yard-age of the Grove. Then: ]

12 buildings + 1 across the river
various states of repair
no apparent defenses outside the fog wall/forest itself
river seems to be clean enough as a water source. various washed up debris?

[And here, have the beginnings of a map forming! Looks like someone doesn't realize this is a communication device, oops]

[And if anyone goes out looking for the mysterious writer they will find a tall man in full armor walking around taking notes like a fricken OSHA inspector?? If you were there when he arrived you might recognize him as they angry yelling sword man, but he looks much calmer now. Thankfully]

How you aren't bound by them. Is it a conscious choice?

Our experiences shape us just as much if not more than our flavors. Is that not the case for humans?

No, it very much is. Humanity's environment and the experiences they have in life shape them far more than the limitation of genetics.

I was just curious - before this place, I've never met a sentient cookie. For all I know, you're baked with a personality built-in.

There is some degree of that, of course. It is especially noticeable in those of us baked as adults. But even then, nothing is written in chocolate.

Oh? So there are cookies baked as children? Do they ever become adults?

Of course. I have a son, in fact. He is a young adult now.

Interesting. Where does the extra dough come from? Do you have to bake them again? I imagine it might be a little traumatizing to go consciously into an oven... unless that sort of thing is comfortable, of course.

The parent(s) usually donate a little dough and shape it into a new cookie which is then baked. The process often does not work, but with enough effort and will it can be done. After that the child grows naturally.

[cacao doesn't really understand the full mechanics- and how unlikely Dark Choco was with just his own innate Life Powder to, maybe, quicken him. Cookies are very mysterious]

They're found in the wild, of course. I've heard of a baby girl being found by a bamboo cutter inside of a stalk of bamboo, and a baby boy was found inside of a peach.

Ah, that makes sense. Do they need to be ripe before they are gathered?

Oh, no. When they're found, they're ready to be taken home. They begin very small, but they grow with time until they reach adulthood.

[That makes sense! Just like baby cookies.]

That is good to know. Hopefully there are no abandoned human plants here- this place being called a Grove does not bode well in that regard.

A very good point! Though, likely any that have grown out there past the fog are beyond hope at this point. I'm afraid there's not much that can be done.

You might have luck looking around the Grove, though. Now that spring is settling in, it's prime time for growth. Who knows what you might find?
