[ A few hours before the sun rises to it's fullest at noon, on a day in September before the Monsters Truly Come Calling But There Might Be a Faerie Or Two when it's particularly warm, Pure Vanilla will write a post. It's quick, and to the point. ]

I believe today would be our best bet at contacting Lady Beiwe. Considering the current state of her Church and it's defilement, I feel holding it in the Grove by her statue will be the best course of action. Of course, I am open to alternatives!

[ But really, unlike the giant statue for Ourania, there is nothing else yet for Beiwe. So anyone glancing out their windows will see Pure Vanilla dutifully drawing a large magic circle with radiating lines and symbols and a spot in the middle, in the dirt. He even moves Beiwe's statue to the middle (minotaur strength, yay!) and Ouraina's statue to a spot in one of the Cardinal Directions that symbolize the moon. A place of honor. There are places left open for others to add their own symbols, their own lines, and being as how it's in the dirt, it's easily changeable as more people show up. Add your magic knowledge or find a spot to sit inside the circle if you desire to speak to Biewe.

Or make garlands of her flowers, or make Sunny D or... something. They're winging it. ]

[The twinge he gets is "but I wanted you to start :(" in a way that's giving "it's unfair if I go first because I'm god", but then again, is her brother going to let them go first? Noooooo he's not!

Joshua will get a twinge in Beiwe's right wrist very briefly before she tries to swing that blade in a wide, horizontal arc at him. It's blunted with golden light on the blades, so the most it'll do is bruise him, but by sheer looks alone it seems like this woman has in fact cleaved enemies in half before without breaking a sweat.]

He catches that twinge, though, and it's just enough to give him an inkling of movement a split second before it happens. Not enough to fully dodge, of course, but it doesn't catch him off guard, either. He has enough time to throw a shield up in front of himself, catching the blade before it can catch him.

And boy, does he have to put his all into that shield. Joshua grits his teeth, focusing on keeping it from breaking. It means he can't even try to attack, but a good defense is just as good as offense. ]

[Oh! We love a strong shield!]

[She's so proud of you!! Josh if you're still in her brain, you're going to get slapped with motherly proudness. In the meanwhile, she's definitely testing the limits of his shield. It sparks as her blade hits it, magic bits flying this way and that way. Josh will get the occasional twinge of her putting a bit more force behind the continued push every few seconds; it's all scientific observation to her, but outside looking in, it probably looks like a clash of ages.

If that shield shatters and she pinball-bumpers Josh with her sword, if he goes flying, he'll be caught in a light net. Otherwise he can probably right himself and/or not fly off into the distance, up to him and his reflexes.]

[ It's funny, but that motherly proudness almost makes him falter. Almost. It's not something he's ever actually felt toward himself, not in a long, long, long time. But, he manages. The shield doesn't slip, and there it remains for the better part of a minute, tiny stress fractures developing in its surface the more that Beiwe applies pressure to it.

And when it finally cracks, and the blade slams down on him, he does indeed go flying backwards into that net. He's caught off guard for a moment, just a second or two, at the unexpected cease of motion, but then he's manifesting his wings and shooting right up into the air. The sharp ache of the blow is canceled out for now by adrenaline, and he isn't even thinking about it.

All he's worried about now is the light forming at his fingers, intense and blinding as it builds and is released in a pillar of blue-white that slams down on Beiwe. ]

[Ah, the Jesus Beams. She is not familiar but I sure am.

If this weren't a sparring match, one can imagine she'd be clapping. You go Joshua! You do those beams! Now on the back foot, or rather, wanting to act like she is so she can assess strength, she switches from sword to shield. Like with every other AoE caster in this goddamn party who's forced her to switch.

The beams collide with the shield, and Joshua may notice the scales on it tipping to one side. He'll probably feel thoughts again if he's paying attention: This is merely an assessment of how strong those beams are, and if the scales didn't tip one way or the other, that's probably a bad sign.

He does have an opening if he'd like to try another attack while she's maintaining Shield On Beams, though!]

Swapping to the shield isn't surprising. It's good tactics, really. But he does notice the scales on it tipping, and for a moment he entertains the thought of asking what the scales mean. Not now, of course, but afterwards.

But he doesn't dwell on it long. There's an opening, and he's confident he can't actually damage Beiwe in a way that will matter - she's testing him, but she knows how to defend herself. So, while she's busy measuring the continued energy he's pumping into that beam, he subtly manifests a bathtub behind her. The only indication of anything as it telekinetically flings itself toward her back is a sweeping movement from Joshua's other hand. ]

[A BATHTUB

She glances back too late to see this, laughs in a way that's distinctly "haha, what the fuck?" and then gets clocked in the back with a whole-ass bathtub. It does knock her over, but Joshua can probably tell that she's being too casual about this and ordinarily, it probably wouldn't have. Still, she tumbles across the yard and has to dig herself out from under it.]

Haha!!! I hope you'll smack my brother with one!

[And make it full of water so he bathes at the same time.]

[ Oh she's definitely being too casual about this. He can see that. At least she's having... fun?? That's the vibe he's getting. He could have summoned anything, really! A vending machine! A street sign! A 2007 Toyota Voxy! But a bathtub somehow seemed funnier to him, and he's glad she agrees.

He doesn't do anything else for the time being, though. Let her get up. See if anything else is necessary first. ]
