May Family Meeting
Who: All y'all, everyone, the whole shebang, etc
What: Town Hall / Family Meeting
When: End of May
Where: Magic Lamp Cafe
Warnings: Typical Stix game warnings: Child death mentions, torture, body horror. More will be in post titles as they come up.
At some point after Passenger's cafe is finished being built and set up, he decides to coordinate with Enciodes to get a family meeting going, since it's been a bit. This time, a change of scenery is in order, so it'll be at the Magic Lamp — which has a surprising lack of magic lamps, RIP. It has normal booths with a Sargonian flare, but also the centre of the cafe sports ground seating, as does the back deck — the back doors have been propped open to allow the people sitting inside to converse with those sitting outside. For most of the meeting, Passenger will be behind the counter making a number of Sargonian dishes and coffees for anyone who wants some; just flag him down and he'll bring you whatever it is. He is listening, he swears.
Meanwhile, Enciodes will give the recap of the usual information, and from there, the meeting can begin.
Our lives as we currently know it, while it did happen, are because we've originated here at the Grove in a past life. Some sort of ritual was meant to save our souls, thought we physically didn't survive. For the most part, it seems our personalities from our past life carried over somewhat, but overall, it doesn't seem like learning about them in detail provides any information on how to get back to our current home or how to best the creature.
The Shopkeeper and the Trader — They lost their names to the forest, so their new names are Heimr and Ydalir. With this in mind, do not give the forest your name. They cannot be referred to by their old names, but Heimr used to be the person in charge of the Grove and Ydalir his sister. Heimr recently became human; maybe there's a way to get Ydalir to be the same?
The Guardians — the Guardians we can currently seek out within the Grove are Zahliya, the Guardian of the Grove and our small gargoyle friend; Moder, the large moose-like creature and Guardian of the Forest; Sinann, and the River Guardian, who appears as a large flare-fin fish. Treat them respectfully and give them offerings if you require their assistance or plan to take anything that is theirs. There are more guardians outside of the Grove. They're akin to... demigods, in a sense of the word. Moder and Sinann used to be corrupted, though on their deaths seemed to have been cleansed of this corruption. Though, going forward, killing the Guardians to purify them may prove detrimental. We simply got lucky with the first two. They were strong enough to revive. If we try again, we might not have this luck.
The Lake Guardian, Callan, is currently corrupted. The Sky Guardian is said to be long-dead by Moder herself.
The Gods — Beiwe, the Goddess of the Sun, and Ourania, the Goddess of the Moon, are the current overseers. According to Moder, they are very weak and may need some help regaining their strength through prayer and acts of devotion. We likely have the power to help them return to their former strength.. We just need to figure out how.
Zahliya is able to purify things with some sort of holy magic. However, his purification is not as strong as it needs to be to fully purify something of corruption. As such, it's in our best interest to figure out how to do this so we can use this ability to cleanse other Guardians and residents in the future, like Nene. If you know of anything that might be helpful, but don't think it's a good idea for the creature in the forest to know, ask any corrupted person to leave first. They may be on our side, but their corruption lends to the forest being able to listen in anyway.
We've found shards of the sun, the moon, and know of Ydalir's star shards. They seem to be manifestations of holy magic, considering that this world reveres the sun and moon deities. We've given Zahliya the sun shard in hopes it'll help him purify things. So far, it seems to be going well, though it seems like there needs to be something a bit stronger to help.
Belief in something gives it power. Names give it power. As such, refrain from giving the forest/the creature/the entity a true "name" of any kind. It's recommended to swap out the vague reference you use. Vice versa for our Guardians — please use their names, and believe in them intrinsically when we require their assistance. Mizuki has recommended before that we sing to Zahliya when he purifies things. Songs of protection and such might do us some good, I think. Just remember not to wish for things too frequently, only if it's absolutely necessary.
It considers us toys. When it gets bored, which so far has been every handful of weeks or so, it will play games with us of some kind, as you may have noticed with prior events. They seem to vary in intensity. Residents were trapped inside a volcano and meant to get to the top before else risk burning alive… and it also seems to know what our absolute worst fears are, respectively. It will get in your head. Don't give it that opportunity.
Moder and Zahliya both have suggested to never call it a god, but to refer to it as either the "False God" or "the Creature". Moder has also previously called it "The Fallen Sun". It does possess a great deal of power, somehow, and referring to it in a derogatory sense might weaken it. Finding the source of its power may be vital, as it is a chaotic nature with a child-like, sadistic personality, which is a deadly combination.
Aldric's Manor is a place where Heimr's kids are currently. We can't get to it, but the children inside do have a notebook, and we hope they'll try to communicate with us. One of his children… There's a grave outside for her. Do not do anything disrespectful by it.
There's a part of the forest where you might find people you know, but as trees. It's… very upsetting there. Refrain from visiting it too frequently.
The Garden is where you'll end up if you die. Nene brings you back if you do end up here. Do not die. Do not end up here. Coming back will have you giving up something important.
The River is where the River Guardian is. Return any remains of the fish we eat from there back to it after we're able to fish there again. Thank the River Guardian when you take apples from the tree nearby there, and thank Moder when you take berries from the bush near it. Do not take bones from the river without permission. Be kind to the river's inhabitants, and don't dump any trash into the water.
The Well's water will always stay clean. Don't go dumping garbage into it, of course, but know that the water there is safe to drink regardless of what happens, it seems. Also, the well is completely bottomless, so if you can't breathe underwater, I don't recommend trying to swim down it. Mizuki tried to, but at a certain point it felt like something was pushing him back.
The Burnt Part of Town and Other Expansions — The Grove, prior to stuff going awry, was a sizeable place, so we're likely to explore more areas as a "reward" for participating in games. For the people who weren't here, it seems to have been "frozen in time". Which also means any corpses that were in there haven't been fully decomposed or anything, so be wary of that. Please also look out for the sink holes at that part of town — it's quite dangerous there.
The Church was Nene's previous home, and a former place of worship for Beiwe. It has since been worn down and transformed into something to worship the Creature.
The Temple is separate from the Church. Zahliya was formerly a statue guarding this place. It is also where the Creature was previously contained.
There are other places within the forest and such, but if you want specifics, talk to Mizuki. He has a map.
If you do end up going into the forest, bring a pair of the golden spectacles that Heimr has with you. They will show you a safe-adjacent way into the forest. It won't guarantee safety, but it'll be your best case scenario.
Not outside the realm of possibility, but currently unable to. The creature in the forest needs to be dealt with first, as even if we find a way home, it can likely just bring us back.
Mizuki has the moon shard, and has since apparently swallowed it, giving him the ability to stop the corruption. Likely, the moon shard itself has calming, healing, and soothing properties. The sun shard is able to burn corruption away. Not as much is known about it, but we can likely ask Ydalir about it, and the star shards, if needed.
In the Lighthouse is a corrupted person who seems very territorial. It's recommended that no one go into the lighthouse or get near it, or they risk being attacked or even killed.

Reincarnation and Our Past Lives
Our lives as we currently know it, while it did happen, are because we've originated here at the Grove in a past life. Some sort of ritual was meant to save our souls, thought we physically didn't survive. For the most part, it seems our personalities from our past life carried over somewhat, but overall, it doesn't seem like learning about them in detail provides any information on how to get back to our current home or how to best the creature.
The Residents
The Shopkeeper and the Trader — They lost their names to the forest, so their new names are Heimr and Ydalir. With this in mind, do not give the forest your name. They cannot be referred to by their old names, but Heimr used to be the person in charge of the Grove and Ydalir his sister. According to Moder, they are very weak and may need some help regaining their strength through prayer and acts of devotion. We likely have the power to help them return to their former strength.. We just need to figure out how.
Purification, Zahliya, and the Corruption
Zahliya is able to purify things with some sort of holy magic. However, his purification is not as strong as it needs to be to fully purify something of corruption. As such, it's in our best interest to figure out how to do this so we can use this ability to cleanse other Guardians and residents in the future, like Nene. We've given Zahliya the sun shard in hopes it'll help him purify things. So far, it seems to be going well, though it seems like there needs to be something a bit stronger to help.
Belief and the "magic" of this world
Belief in something gives it power. Names give it power. As such, refrain from giving the forest/the creature/the entity a true "name" of any kind. It's recommended to swap out the vague reference you use. Vice versa for our Guardians — please use their names, and believe in them intrinsically when we require their assistance. He's very happy that the family meeting is taking place in Elliot's cafe, because he can't think of any other place he'd rather be other than his own workshop. It's terribly cozy, and it reminds him of the very few comforts that Sargon actually had to offer. Places such as these, with cushions everywhere and little nooks one can curl up in with good food, drink, and company. He is just going to be a happy lizard sitting in the warmth of the sun on the back deck with a mug of coffee between his claws.
When it comes around to introductions, he'll nod his head.]
For those who have not yet had the pleasure of meeting me...I am known as Sesa. Please do not be concerned if you are left unable to comprehend me at first blush. I am an enigma, with untold powers that even I cannot comprehend.
[His tail flicks.]
I own and live at the workshop connected to the lab, which is currently open for anyone who may need something mechanical repaired. Weaponry is my specialty, though I have been branching out recently. I have also taken the recreation center into my care, though I have not done a whole lot with it yet, I'm afraid.

Hello, everyone~! I'm Mizuki. I run the local therapy building, so if you need anything from there, feel free to use it at your leisure or come talk to me about it. The rage room and the painting room can be especially therapeutic. The sensory deprivation tanks aren't for everyone, but I'm willing to show you how those work, too. There's video games in the lobby that you can play, but please don't take those out without asking me first. They're my personal consoles, and I'd be very upset.
I stay at the therapy building a lot, and also in the river, so you'll most likely find me there. But umm... I hate sleeping by myself all the time, so I might just be cuddling with someone in their room occasionally. I hope that's alright? You can always let me know if it's not.
Also, if you're going to head out into the forest, let me know beforehand. I'm still not very good with the abilities granted to me from the moon shard, but I've found that if you stick around me or ingest my food, it'll prevent corruption from spreading for a short period of time. And letting me know before hand may be helpful since I have Elsword's map, too.
Speaking of, Elsword, if he hasn't introduced himself to you yet, he would've gotten around to it. He heroically fought off an entity in the forest and sustained corruption, however, so I got rid of it. It means that he's a bit hard to talk to now, since he isn't physically showing back up... However! If you got any questions for Us, just let Us know~!

For any newcomers, I go by "Passenger", though Elliot is my first name — I only use it with Sesa and Sesa alone. This cafe is mine, so if you need something, let me know. And if you'd like to work here, I don't mind, as long as you can cook and make food look presentable, [this means you Mizuki,] and can follow a recipe well.
Otherwise, I live out of the workshop with Sesa, where I work on various machines. My Arts revolve around electricity and lightning, as I'm sure some of you have seen... and I have Oripathy. I'd like to reiterate for those who missed it that no one should touch the crystal on my forehead unless they'd like a violent, fatal disease with no known cure. I will use excessive force on anyone who tries to infect themselves — do not make me electrocute you.

I am Pure Vanilla Cookie, and I am currently holding up the Clinic while our original Doctor is unavailable. Any with healing skills or abilities are more than welcome to join me. I am a Healer of some considerable skill, but I would quite love to discuss your worlds various methods of healing, for several reasons.
[ To hasten his research for Oripathy. To find ways to bolster the Gods and the Guardians further.
To see if anyone has any methods to ease the empty space in him that feels a lot like the missing scoop of his Souljam. ]
I live in the gingerbread looking house across from the Clinic, located in the small area of trees behind the School, with; Dark Cacao Cookie, Clotted Cream Cookie, and Felicity. Visitors are always welcome, as well as anyone who needs a couch to sleep on.

Hi~. I'm Ainchase Ishmael, but please call me Ain. I'm new here. Mm... I'm a priest, [he's an angel, anyone with supernatural sense will be able to tell,] and I know how to heal, but I can also do elemental magic, put up barriers, close rifts, teleport, and summon weapons to fight with. My hobbies are keeping people safe. And I like singing, flowers, pretty things, and sweet foods, although I'm not particularly picky either way, as long as it tastes good.
[And then he holds up his weird dog—]
This is Dachsologie, or "Dachie"! He's friendly and doesn't mean anyone harm. He likes to hoard shiny objects and follow people around. [Especially people Ain is already attached to, but that won't come up for a while. Ain is not entirely aware of that fact, either.] He normally just wants to play, but if he gets into too much trouble, come find me. I'll take him elsewhere.

Gnosis Edelweiss-Silverash. On Terra, I was the Chief Technical Officer of Karlan Trade, a business co-founded by myself and Enciodes, as well as Speaker of the Parliament of Kjerag, my home country. In addition to this, I normally work as an Operator of Rhodes Island, a pharmaceutical company, though I more specifically work within the technological development department. In college, [gnosis please shut up] I majored in life sciences and Originium research.
While I am capable of providing medical assistance in some capacity, I am not a licensed medical professional. I can affix a prosthetic limb to you, I cannot perform open heart surgery, please do not ask me to perform open heart surgery.
As always, here are my business cards.
[schlaps those onto the table.]
I have found myself making a number of prosthetics lately, to backtrack. Not that I would wish that on anyone, but if anyone needs one, let me know. As horrific as it is, they are rather fun to make. [okay.] If anyone has any other puzzles or mechanical devices they need me to figure out, please send them my way. I thoroughly enjoy solving them.

Hello, everybody. It's nice to meet you. My name is Harque Ebalon. I wouldn't say that I'm very much, despite being candidate for Moon Master back home, but I do know a touch of healing magic, and I did discover time magic back on Elrios. I would like to use these to help the people here, if that's alright.
[And then, fidgeting a little...]
I did die on Elrios, and I did wake up to find myself here. I am functionally alive again, but going "back home" to me means I will go back to oblivion. I would prefer to explore other means for myself while helping others with the matter of escape. I do hope this isn't a concern...?

My name is Enciodes Silverash. I am from Terra, and am a Feline if that much were not obvious. I've been working on cleaning up parts of the town, so I've been a little too busy to properly get everyone's names down and such. I would like to help organize this place the best I can to make things like newcomers and spontaneous 'events' to go a little more smoothly for us, but understand that this is a process that isn't exactly easy, as the unpredictability of it means that there are plenty of contingencies to attempt to account for. That said, if you have any ideas of how to improve things or something similar, feel free to come talk with me. It's not too hard to find me, as I am often at the lab with my husband, out scouting the edges of the Grove, or inside the inn.
As for today's meeting, if you have any question, but don’t know who to ask, I can direct you.
Also, this is Tenzin. [ He gestures to the hawk that has remained perched on his shoulder, looking around at everyone. ] He often helps with patrols, and is very well trained. I also have a pet young snow leopard named Unci. She is... still in her playful, curious stage, so she's bound to cause some trouble. Please come talk to Gnosis or I if this becomes too much of an issue and we'll get it sorted.

My name is Clotted Cream Cookie. Back at home, I am the elected Consul of the Crème Republic. I've recently returned from an... unfortunate run-in with something out in the forest, but you all have been very kind in helping me navigate life without one of my primary limbs, and for that I am very thankful.
Currently, I am living in the gingerbread house with Pure Vanilla Cookie, Dark Cacao Cookie, and Felicity. I am still coming out of recovery so I am not doing much yet, but I have experience in Light magic and politics, so please let me know if I am able to assist in any way.

[He stuck around when he realized this was a gathering of some kind and has been listening, soaking up as much info as possible. He spends most of the recap writing furiously in his journal, trying to keep up while taking proper notes. Once the introductions begin, Dipper starts individual pages for each person.]
[As it falls quiet, he looks up and realizes he's ...probably next oh boy.]
UH-
[He coughs, trying to cover up the way his voice cracked.]
I mean-! Hey, what's up? I'm Dipper. Dipper Pines. I got here a few days ago. Ghost researcher, part-time exorcist, magic dabbler. I specialize in blood magic, but I've picked up other magic in the past. I know a lot of spells and rituals for protection and warding, which might be useful if I can get it to work! Uh, I'm good at math, cracking codes and ciphers, and baking.
[A small pause. That sounded like an okay intro. Will they think he is a nerd? Probably.]
I'm ...kind of just staying in the burned out remains of my past-life's house, for now.

Luca Aurelius. I own the Watchtower bar toward the edge of town. No, I will not give you free liquor. No, I have nothing to report.
[Yeah, that's it. He sits back down in the back of the cafe with his arms crossed. Though he might try to appear aloof, he's definitely listening, at least.]

But even he knows that these things are important, founts of information that they are. He'd like to stay in the know, even if he'd rather be back at the house.
He's no longer saddled to his wheelchair or crutches, at least. In fact, the only reason anyone would know that his left leg is now metal is the fact that his pants are highwater, showing off his ankles in a way that makes it obvious there's metal glinting down there with every limping step he takes. Initially, he heads for the little outdoor seating area to smoke, only to get into a brief shouting match with the stupid redheaded dragon guy about smoking there, which prompts him to turn back around and plop his ass in a corner on a cushion on the floor somewhere.
At least there's coffee.]

Ah. He should say something... Harque will flit over to the counter to get more food (Passenger calls it baklava, Harque has no idea what that is because he's Korean but thank you sir) and then hand Affogato the plate as he sits.]

Mizuki's Got More Lore To Share
Moon Seyonce
For starters, apparently her and both the suns had gotten along well to start with. They were close friends for a while. Then... something changed, and that all fell apart. She said the change went unnoticed by her, if there was any. That he just seemed to go from someone who'd helped her nurture things, to destroying them. It's not entirely clear what, but it's likely we can ask the Sun Goddess more about it, considering they were siblings. She might have more insights~.
It was her and the Sun Goddess that sealed away the false god to begin with. She gave me some of the details of the ritual, but it didn't sound too... repeatable, from how she talked about it.

The burned part of town
I'm working on making that part of town somewhat livable again. Maybe it won't matter in the end, since some of us intend to find our way back home, but I worry about having something like that sit so close to where we are now.
It's going to take some time, but I'm a particularly efficient worker. I'll let you know when it's done.
I would also like to keep a headcount for everyone here at the Grove, to know what I need to keep in case of emergencies, and not have to stretch ourselves thin, so introducing yourself comes with that added benefit, if you don't mind.
[ Looking at you quiet, broody fucks. ]

Vash here! Hope this little meetup goes well. I've got nothin' to report, and even if I did it'd probably be best if I wasn't there. Uh... wait a second, I guess that is something to report, huh?
My trip out into the woods didn't go so good. I, uh, wound up gettin' corrupted. So far I'm pretty under control but if that changes... I'll be sure to let everyone know. Sorry to everyone I ended up freaking out. I'll be okay. Probably!
Anyway, since these are important little chitchats, I don't want the Forest listening through me! I'm sittin' this one out, but someone tell Passenger I'm looking forward to seeing his cafe!
Okay thanks! Bye! <3

Another question from the goth nerd
Hey, um. If just to humor the new guy, I've heard the term "Corruption" get tossed around a bunch so far. Can anyone give me a more elaborate explanation of what it is and what it does?
[Not. Not that he has experience with a form of Corruption at all, and he might be still capable of falling to it and turning into a monster. Absolutely not.]
an answer from the other goth nerd- also cw for eye horror
Gnosis has been here the longest of anyone now, so he'll speak first.]
It's complicated. If you swing by the lab, I'm more than happy to show you dead specimens, [WHAT] but for now...
"Corruption" is something the False God or Fallen Sun or "the Creature", whatever you prefer to call it, can do to us. It acts akin to a disease. If you see any murky black plants here, those are Corrupted. In any of us, that same blackness shows up in our skin and veins if we're Corrupted, so it's easy enough to tell. It causes mutations — growing flowers out of the skin seems to be one of the biggest ones. Someone who used to be here, Elsword, had his Corruption progress to the point where his entire right half was covered in white flowers, including his face, and at one point I recall he lost an eye when the flowers started to bloom out of his eye socket.
[Thanks for the flat delivery there bestie that's not concerning at all.]
Being Corrupted gives the False God the ability to see and hear with the Corrupted's eyes and ears, and... [he looks off to Wolfwood where he's arguing with Enciodes and sighs,] Several months ago, that same Corruption allowed the False God to possess Elsword's body to attack Wolfwood. And I'm sure it wanted to attack the rest of us using him, but luckily, he was stopped fairly quickly.
If you see a little girl named Nene wandering around who looks like she's made of wood, she's also Corrupted. The moose-monster who wanders around the Grove, Moder, was formerly Corrupted, and her issue was solved by her death and reincarnation, though I don't think we should lean on that for fixing the problem. Elsword died, and he still hasn't come back yet. —Oh, sorry, I should mention that death isn't always permanent here.
[What else, what else... sorry Dipper this man rambles a lot.]
Zahliya, the Gargoyle that sits on the church's roof, can cure Corruption, but only in the early stages. He keeps saying he needs help strengthening his magic so he can cure the rest of it. I think that about covers it.
