(NETBOOK) End of Sept-ish
HEY!!!! STAN PINES HERE! DIPPER'S GREAT UNCLE PART ONE OF TWO IF YOU HAVEN'T MET US YET.
QUICK QUESTION FOR ANYONE WHO KNOWS!
DOES IT GET RANDOMLY REALLY, REALLY, REALLY BAD HERE IN OCTOBER EVERY YEAR? LIKE BLOOD RUNNING THROUGH THE STREETS, ETERNAL NIGHT, AND SORTA PERMANENT INSOMNIA? OR IS IT JUST STANDARD HALLOWEEN SHENANIGANS? WHAT LEVEL OF TORTURE AND TORMENT SHOULD WE EXPECT HERE? A 2? A 12???
...
...I DUNNO HOW TO END THIS SO I'M GOING BACK TO BOARDING UP OUR WINDOWS.

Last October was largely fine. A group of wandering skeletons threw a masquerade for everyone that was open every night from the 1st through the 31st. There were a few apparitions of ghosts people knew — I saw my parents, for example — but otherwise, it wasn't bad.

PARTY MEANS THERE WAS PROLLY STILL FOOD AROUND TOO, RIGHT? GHOSTS, EH. CAN TAKE OR LEAVE EM AS LONG AS IT'S NOT THE VENGEFUL KIND THROWING THINGS

The ghosts weren't throwing things. They didn't acknowledge any of us, they just acted like they were doing a daily routine. They'd pass through us sometimes if we were in the way.

GOOD ABOUT THE FOOD AND LIQUOR THOUGH. LAST TIME AROUND I WOUND UP HAVING TO LOOT THE GROCERY STORE BECAUSE ALL THE LOCALS CLOSED UP SHOP. THEY WENT "OH NO! IT'S OCTOBER! SEE YOU IN A MONTH WHEN THE HELL CLEARS UP!"

That sounds really bad?
Like super, duper bad and definitely sounding like something people should be very worried about.
[ but more importantly ]
What's "Halloween"?

Also Halloween is a holiday from our original world. It's meant to be a spooky holiday but in a fun way. It used to be my favorite holiday until Hell!October ruined it.

I mean, if that's what you're used to, it makes sense you'd want to be as prepared as possible!
After all, outside the typical festivals we hold in Vaugarde, I would be none the wiser with my own experience from home.
That's a shame it was ruined for you, it sounds like an amazing good time otherwise!

[But that doesn't matter because now he gets to explain Halloween! Tone changes instantly!]
HALLOWEEN IS THE BEST HOLIDAY THERE IS! YOU DRESS UP IN COSTUMES AND KNOCK ON PEOPLE'S DOORS TO BEG FOR CANDY! PLUS IT'S AN EXCUSE TO SCARE PEOPLE AND MESS WITH THEM, AND CELEBRATE ALL THINGS SPOOKY! WE USED TO LIVE IN GRAVITY FALLS AND THEY LIKED IT SO MUCH THEY DID IT TWICE A YEAR!

[ Genuinely, but also writing in capital letters looked fun there. ]
Costumes! That sounds like SO much fun!!
It would be an amazing experience if we could do that here, I'd love to see it!
I'd definitely be up for making costumes for people to help out too.
But who knows, maybe they do something different around here?

...at the same time, there was once a time when my dear husband may have found something like that quite enjoyable... I can only imagine how cute he'd be about it... oh... I'm so conflicted now... As much as I despise waste, I would do anything for that smile...

My, two Halloweens? How lucky. I'm assuming they're not back-to-back? I can only imagine parents would be a little miffed about having to order candy in bulk.

DIPPER'S BEEN GETTING NON-PERISHABLES. YOU THINK WE'RE GOOD ON WATER?
[Ford knows this, but Stan still writes it down as if he's running through the list systematically as a reminder, stressing. Not wanting to forget anything important.]

DON'T FORGET THE CHIMNEY. PEOPLE FORGOT TO BOARD THE CHIMNEY LAST YEAR N THE GRUES GOT EM. THE SCREAMS'RE STILL BURNED INTO MY MIND. GROVE WAS A SLAUGHTERHOUSE
no subject
WHAT THE HELL ARE GRUES? CAN'T YOU JUST SMOKE EM OUT WITH A FIRE? YOU'D NEED ONE ANYWAY, OR SOME OTHER WAY TO KEEP WARM.
BUT YEAH, THAT ALL SOUNDS ABOUT RIGHT. BET PEOPLE GOT ALL HALLUCINATIONY TOO. SOMETIMES IT WASN'T EVEN FRIENDS AND FAMILY, SOMETIMES YOU JUST WENT KINDA BONKERS AND LOST
AN E[Wait fuck Dipper is here PIVOT PIVOT PIVOT SCRIBBLES THAT OUT--]
A LEG OR AN ARM OR SOME OTHER BODY PART.
[Nailed it!]
