[ Enciodes did his best to get a headcount regarding the notebook page he'd written out, and thus has gotten together the according rations, plus extras, because he can never be too careful. He's recruited the Guardians who were able to join them as well, and he might be using Moder currently as a bit of shelter from the snowy storm, with Tenzin, his falcon, perched on his shoulder and being incredibly alert.

Enciodes has a few navigation tools with him as well, and he seems far more stern and serious than he has been in some time. Anyone who approaches him will be handed a ragged backpack with food, basic survival tools and extra clothes. He also strongly recommends seeing Heimr for some loans on items, if needed, though he can't guarantee he'd be able to hand out that much.

Otherwise, welcome! This is the most downer party ever! Time will be given for everyone to gather and ask some last minute questions and such - and receive the final warning that he can't guarantee anyone's safety, and there's still the high probability of death on this venture. Anyone who wants to stay here should do so now. ]

Craft?

[ Well, that's a new word for him, but the way she says it is new. Surely she doesn't mean things like sewing or woodworking... ]

Ah, you would call it 'magic', I suppose.

[ It isn't, really, it's a science, but she can concede the point. 'Anything sufficiently advanced', was it? What was that quote again? ]

Ah. Elemental? Or something else?

[ He knows enough now to realize magic here is far different than back home, where it was mostly elemental.

He rather likes the sound of Craft. ]

[ She frowns. She's heard of elemental magic, but it's still such an odd idea to her. ]

Craft works with forces that are far more basic. Protection, Creation and Piercing.

[ She makes the corresponding hand signs as she explains: Rock, Paper, Scissors. ]

[ And since he doesn't know rock, paper, scissors -

He looks interested. ]

I wouldn't think anything got more basic than elements. You should speak with my brother.

[ He nods his head in Joshua's direction. ]

He'd love to hear about this. [ Nerd to nerd communication. ]

[ She looks over, making a mental note. ]

I'd be happy to explain it to him. Perhaps not today, though. I'd hate to waste energy in demonstration only to need it in battle later.

Good idea, save your energy and strength for what's to come.

[ For whatever it is, other than a straight slaughter. He's trying to keep his hopes up but their outlook was said to be grim from the start. ]

[ Her expression flattens again as she looks over the group. ]

What's to come, huh? Be sure to pay attention during the fight. Any weaknesses, quirks, patterns. Any information that can be gleaned. That's the only thing of any value we might get out of this.

Hm. [ A little huff of a laugh. ] Assuming we don't walk in and promptly get smeared from one end of the grove to the other, you mean.

[ He's not entertaining the thought they're going to do much but piss him off but a start is a start. ]

[ She grimaces. ]

If that turns out to be the case, I do hope you'll join me in berating Enciodes for choosing a method of suicide so demoralizing for the rest of us.

[ Assuming that they come back after dying, of course. She's not leaning on that hope, either. ]

[ Neither is he, but he will offer a half smile in return. ]

Got it. I'll stand behind you very intimidatingly. I have a very good pose for it.

[ He glances around again at their little ragtag band who are more than likely going to be dead come the next day. ]

Have you faced a God before? Or one who declares himself such?

[ The question surprises a bitter laugh out of her. ]

Not a god, no, but one who declared himself a King. The power he wielded was god-like, I suppose. He froze almost the entire country in time.

Ah, time freezing. Counts. Come out all right in the end?

[ How many of them have faced their worlds version of a God and survived... ]

For a certain definition of 'all right'.

[ Siffrin will probably never be the same again, and she hates that for them. But everyone else... nobody was too badly hurt. ]

There will be more repercussions than we know, I'm sure.

[ That makes him incline his head in understanding, then laugh. ]

Killed God, absorbed his power, pretty sure I rewrote the world so humanity could live free. Not entirely sure, however. Ended up here after using it.

[ He studies his hand, turning it. It should be petrified, it was starting to... ]

[ That sounds so completely nonsensical and absurd that she can only take it as the absolute truth. It's either that, or a very detailed hallucination, and since he doesn't show any other signs of psychosis, god-killer it is. ]

Well, that's one point in our favor.

Two. We've both faced something akin to a God before.

[ He doesn't know if anyone else here has. They may have both come out relatively "all right" in the grand term of things but they have some knowledge of just how bad it might go down. ]

Not that I've been here long enough to know every detail there is to know, of course.

[ It's been... a week. If that, he thinks. ]

Hmm.

[ They're doing this because they don't know what they're facing. The King may have had a frightening power, but he was only a man, and one that was only defeated because Siffrin was able to gain an equally frightening power. It sounds like in both cases, the very fabric of reality was nearly torn apart. ]

Just don't forget that we'd like to survive. We will have to run away at some point.

[ He knows running away is an option, but it's usually only an option he takes when - oh say - all his tendons have been severed and he can't fucking move. But still, he's disappointed enough people, so he inclines his head. ]

Agreed, focus on getting out when the tides turn.

[ Not if. When. ]

Good.

[ She knows a lot of the people here are the type that would rather die than run from a fight, and this isn't a fight they can win. ]

We aren't here to win.

We're here to learn.

[ They will die. If they do damage before hand, then good, but truly he knows they're just there to learn what they can.

... After a quick pause. ]

[ She gives a firm nod. This whole notion is counter to most people's every instinct. She wonders how much self control these people have. ]
